Well, if you have 1,5k to burn in your bucket for a 8TB SAS SSD, this is actually a killer deal:

**NEW** HGST Ultrastar SS200 3.84TB SAS SSD 2.5" SXHLLL | eBay

HGST UltraStar SS200 7.68TB SAS SSD 2.5" 12GBPs TCG
Model# SXHLLL PN# 0TS1409
Capacity: 7.68TB (12Gb/s)

New sealed in its bag... There are other units from the same series in different capacities that have popped up.

8TB SAS3 SSD under 7k USD is a treat. The amount of VMs you could concurrently run and/or serve, with fantastic latency and raw IO speeds.... The price per GB is pretty solid.

I sent in an offer and was accepted. Seller seems quite helpful and communication thus far has been smooth. I was apprehensive in the beginning with the whole process.

If anyone has any heads up let me know, as we are still sorting out shipping! Hopefully this is not too good to be true...

I bought one as well. It arrived today, but my 12Gbps SAS controller doesn't arrive until Thursday so I can't test it until then.

1.5k is amazing price for 8tb if it’s not an engineering sample, 1k for 3.84tb is a realistic good price for eBay.

I got the disk too. Let's see what happens. Considered snagging the 3.8TB too. The drives are most likely authentic, I would not consider that the problem.

Had this for a while already, on anew host with Proxmox and the latest kernel it is reporting speeds 400-500MB/s (SAS3 via expander direct to HBA, X11SPH m/b).

Anyone has any advice on what could be causing that?
