I actually tried this and each drive synced at it's rated speed, 12G at 12G and 6G at 6G.That doesn't match my understanding of how SAS3 works.

Yup, that's what I would expect.I actually tried this and each drive synced at it's rated speed, 12G at 12G and 6G at 6G.
Yeah, that'll work poorly via an expanderYep you're right, I was thinking of a mixture of SAS2 and SAS1!
Hello @dv007 , can you let me know if you have received a response? If not send me a dm with your email address.Anyone received their orders from bitdeals.tech? placed my order on Feb 26th. Still not shipped yet. Emailed them for status, unanswered. Should I be worried?
Have you received your drives from bitdeals - how long it took and what you ended up with POH, surface scanning, etc?Anyone received their orders from bitdeals.tech? placed my order on Feb 26th. Still not shipped yet. Emailed them for status, unanswered. Should I be worried?
They arrived a little over two weeks from ordering, and had around 27,000 POH. No SMART issues and badblocks did not report any errors either.Have you received your drives from bitdeals - how long it took and what you ended up with POH, surface scanning, etc?
Thank you, it sounds like they've got the process improved (however, there are just few things "in stock" for ordering). They arrived a little over two weeks from ordering, and had around 27,000 POH. No SMART issues and badblocks did not report any errors either.

Yes.Does the Supermicro "TQ" backplanes support SAS drives?
This won't work. Sas hbas/raid controllers can use sata devices, but not the other away around.I would be using the onboard SATA3 ports
Darn. Each 9211 HBA uses 11 watts at idle, and I'm downsizing by moving to the 10-onboard SATA ports for some systems.Yes.
