NEW HGST 1ES0059 4U 60 bays SAS3 12GB/s Storage Enclosure (NO DRIVES) - WARRANTY

Manual says that SATA drives do not function but before I purchased I asked the vendor to test and they reported that SATA worked fine. That is also my experience - see below.

The connectors are QSFP - a QSFP to SFF8088 worked fine since I don't have a 12GB card at the moment.

Btw I bought these at £199 each, so make use of that best offer!

Drive caddys are included. The noise level is low BUT I have only 1 drive in as a test. There are no fans other than the fans at the back - they do drive through a decent airflow.

I'll take some internal pictures later.

For members outzide of Uk, buyer beware. The seller only wants bank transfer and transact outside of ebay.

Based on my experience, its very risky. Does anyone know a forward shipper in UK?

Hmm... yeah gotta watch out there. Seller seems legit, but you are right Awesomesauce, it can certainly be risky. Only thing is if you aren't totally happy with the purchase, you can't really cry to eBay/Paypal about it, as they tell you upfront not to do any transactions/payments off of the site if you found their listing on eBay. At least they won't cover it with the money-back guarantee. I think seller may just be trying to save/avoid the eBay fees for the item though. I definitely want one, but we should do our due diligence. Please do be careful guys!

When i ask if it was the fee. They say its their "policy" as they dont sell to non UK ebay buyers.

i don't need it but it's really nice and i'm very tempted... but i'm located in France.
So you should use a QSFP+ to SFF-8644 connectors ? i did'nt see this kind of connectors.

Here is a picture of the internals. If I can find my power plug thing I'll see if I can take some power readings.

I was surprised at the cabling requirements but QSFP+ to SFF-8644 cables do exist, as do QSFP+ to SFF-8088. I would have posted this earlier but I had to wait for the cable to come!

I'm in the US & plan on buying 2 units.
Yes, it's bank transfer only for us non-UK buyers

Seller says they ship UPS, cost approx £280
They also provided the following info:
Check other options on www.parcel2go.com website
Dimensions: 100 x 56 x 48
Weight: 52kg

Parcel2go is showing an economy service (3-4 days) for £150

These are from a huge discount sell from HSGT. We bought several new of these full of 8TB drives for the 2/3 of the market price. We needed just drives, so we sold the chassis as well.
