So i got my P8P67 this weekend and initially had several issues.
1. DIMM 1b was bad
2. I couldnt get Windows isntalled to my SSD or a regular HDD for that matter

I figured my board was just screwed, so i exchanged it; but I am right back where I left off as it relates to getting windows installed.

I have tried my SDD on all ports, SATAII, SATAIII, and Marvel. Cant install w/ AHCI.
I have tried my HDD on all ports, SATAII, SATAIII, and Marvel. Could only install on the Marvel w/ AHCI.

If I try to use the intel ports the installer fails because it cannot create a partition. A couple of times by luck it created the partition but then failed at 3-4% of Expanding Files part.

I thought it was drives so i have ran some diagnostics and they check fine. I even put the drives in Sabertooth X58 board and did a windows install and it works just fine.

Im running the Latest BIOS/EFI.
I am loading the SATA drivers during install. If i dont my drives do not even show up. Is this the case for everyone?

Any ideas?

Sounds like it might be a BIOS firmware bug. That sort of thing is not uncommon for new motherboards. Has the MB manufacturer anything to say? Maybe a beta testing BIOS you can try?

Last night I re-installed Win 7 x64 Pro on a P8H67-M EVO using the 6.0gbps ports on a sandforce 120GB SSD. (See my Sandy Bridge mATX specs here, except I replaced the i7-2600K with an i5-2500K.)

Tonight I am going to try the P8P67 Pro installation.

Also, what port is your install media drive on?

Hey nitro,

Just re-installed Win 7 on the P8H67-M EVO no problem.

Please read the below in its entirety before attempting.

So I then decided to try my main rig (ASUS P8P67 Pro). I first made a WHS backup image of my X58 system drive (RAID 0 OCZ Vertex 128GBs... just have had no reason to change with the awesome GC). I then took the two drives and put them in the P67 system. Booted the machine and went to UEFI BIOS. Set controller to RAID mode with the two SSDs on the 6.0gbps Intel ports so I do not have to worry about the 3.0gbps port issue. I then placed the optical drives on the 3.0gbps ports.

Then booted into Windows 7. Keyboard / mouse didn't work but I had RDP up. Intel onboard did not work, needed the Intel CT adapter to be used since I had installed drivers for that. Once the Intel CT adapter was hooked up, I could RDP and then install drivers from the ASUS disk to get devices supported.

I bet you could do the same type thing maybe using a clean install of Windows 7 on an X58 but customizing to use all generic drivers plus a non-ASUS desktop adapter, then port the drive over and finish driver installation.

Just some thoughts.

I ended up returning my SB stuff. Just too much of a PITA. I left with a i7 950 instead and will keep this until Z68 comes out or later.
