I have setup esxi5 with openindiana 151 and nfs datastore in esxi.
works wonderfully. !!! I installed several VM's in the nfs data store and they work ok..
I set the autostart for openindiana in esxi and it is the first VM to power up.
however, esxi says my other vm's are "unaccessable".. and cannot start them
I have 5 minutes delay from start of OI to next vm..

If i refresh the datastores they are still unaccessable, if i unmount and re-mount the nfs then they are still gone ( unaccessable )..
If i browse the datastore with esxi browser i can see my vm files !!

how to fix this please ?

maybee a nfs permission problem
(For nfs3, you need only unix permissions, but acl settings can restrict them)

- set your nfs folder to unix perm 777 (=full, opt. set recursiv)
- check acl example with napp-it acl extension:
set acl for everyone@ to full with file and dir inherit set to on

thank you for your reply.. you were correct with your suggestion..

it was the permissions for nfs that was stopping esxi from seeing the datastore.. it is all working very well now
thanks again for this napp-it application.
