Help with HBA330

Hi, based on seeing that people liked them on here, I bought a Dell HBA330 from eBay.

I'm installing the card in an old system that has been used as a server for some time now. The MB is an MSI Z77A-G45. I've got a Xeon E3-1245v2 processor in the MB. No matter which slot I put the card in, the system won't boot. It starts up, never reaches the POST/setup screen, and then resets itself.

Is there any reason that this card shouldn't work in this system? Or did I get a bad card?

you probably need to mask off the card's smbus pins, I think 5&6 if I remember correctly. I use narrow kapton tape. Make sure you only cover those two pins.

I'm new to the world of reusing controllers in other systems, so the help is much appreciated. And the video is definitely great knowledge.
