Hi folks, i'm looking to get hba card that could be used with breakout sata cable, either sff 8087 / 8088 to sata.
And it must also be able to be able to hit 6Gbps, cause ive read some dell card only hits 3Gbps for each drive.. Trim capability would be nice too
Any recommendations?

Edit : 8463 is also fine, as long as it could hit 6Gbps..

if you only looking for 6gbps compatible card, I think the best one out there is the 9207-8i. It has newer chip than the 9211 and it has PCI-E3 compatibility which mean more performance. As far as trim goes I think that is dictated by the OS you are running on. I have not heard there's a specific HBA that can do trim outside the OS.

or go for 12gbps cards if you want to be sure that 6gbps is not bottleneck for your ssd.
look for Lsi 9300 of Lsi 9400

or adaptec serie 8 (12gbps, hba and raid on the same card)

my favourite card is adaptec 78165 (eol product) but on ebay around 80-90 dollars

Adaptec - Adaptec RAID 78165

6gbps, hba and raid with the same card. one big advantage: this card has 3 or 4 pin fan connection, you can put 40x40mm fan on chipset heatsink to keep it cool and connect the fan on onboard fan-connector. that is how i now use my 78165-card
