In the spirit of keeping this thread...alive-ish...

This is my main workstation...wall mounted, open frame chassis, water cooled CPU (420 AIO), big ass GPU etc and...utterly silent. Like silent silent, I sit 6ft away from it, and can't hear a single thing. Runs "hack"/intosh - Sequoia latest version. Drives quad 4K displays.

I just love how non apologetic a single screenshot can be, while you pretend to be subtle in explaining just how big yours actually is.

How have you found the hackintosh lifestyle in 2026
Nah...been doing it for a while. I think the first hackintosh I made was ...15-ish years ago? Back then it was a lot more painful that it is now. Now, with OpenCore, it's a breeze.

And a real Mac with this performance (including 25gb ethernet) would cost multiples more than this.

heh, I ran OSX Tiger on my Sempron 64 2800+

The future of hackintosh seems slim with in-house silicon.
Frankly I am more interested in the Linux on Mac Silicon than the other way around.

Some old gear for the thread.

I am too. However…I’m too deeply embedded into the Fruit ecosystem to abandon it. Once hacks become a no go, Mac Mini is it. With hopefully a Linux workstation besides it.

This is a dope setup. Fan sucking air through the hsf into the PSU and out. Smart.

I have done the reverse HackinTosh", kept the case and put in other hardware. The current one is a Mac Pro, with Gigabyte matx MB and Ryzen 9950X, 96GB memory. I have done minimal cutting, only for the IO plate. I kept a 1mm border around the original IO of the Mac. White inside, MB, Power supply and Fans. Just 2 14 cm Arktic Pro fans (3000rpm) and 2 cooler fans.

The problem with the cheesegrater is that they suck in a lot of dust!
This is my second build, the first was in a PowerMac G5, built around 10 years ago, based on the Natex deal. 2 E5-2670+MB+128GB. Later upgraded to 12 core E5-4657lv2. The new system is about 4 times faster!

The G5 case is definatley easier with a large MB, but fitting the Power Supply is a pain. The Power Mac works best with matx, everything bigger would be a pain. In both cases the MBs are glued into place with liquid metall, using the original Mac stand off that were taken of.
