This worked for me as well for a PSAS CP400i (D3327-A12, part number A3C40176030). This is I believe the budget version of the PRAID supporting only RAID 0 and 1, and without flash / battery backup options.

A few notes:
  • I had to perform this though on an older PC. megarec3 was hanging when trying to read or write the SBR, even after tinkering with various BIOS settings. (Could not fix "IO Base address high. Currently not supported" issue, which might be the root cause).
  • sas3flsh -list did not work on either PC under FreeDOS. I used the Linux version of sas3flash to get the SAS address and serial number, which I downloaded here: "Installer P16 for Linux".
  • I can also confirm that attempting to flash the boot roms (mptsas3, mpt3x64) directly did not work. It was necessary to flash the firmware first.
  • Among the Broadcom downloads there is also a newer firmware version (16.00.15.00) in the "9311_8i_Pkg_P16_IR_IT_FW_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows" package, in case anyone wants to try...

Hi everyone,

Using the guides here, I successfully crossflashed my Fujitsu CP400i (LSI SAS3008/D3307) to IT mode (SAS9300-8i).

I can fully confirm what was mentioned earlier in this thread regarding the FreeDOS issues on modern server motherboards:

FreeDOS: Warning! IO base address high. Currently not supported.

When trying to run megarec3.exe -writesbr 0 sleyksbr.bin on my original Fujitsu server motherboard, the tool simply errored out or froze on -readsbr due to the UEFI memory mapping.

The Solution: Just like recommended, the only fix was to pull the card from the server and put it into a standard consumer PC. On the consumer motherboard, the FreeDOS tool executed instantly with a Success message.

Once the SBR was wiped in DOS on the desktop PC, I put it back into the server, and the sas3flash.efi -list command in the UEFI Shell recognized the card immediately. From there, the EFI flashing process went flawlessly.

If you are stuck in DOS with this error, don't waste time on BIOS settings—just swap the card into a regular desktop PC for the DOS step!

Hey all,

I'm following the guide but once i get to the point where I have sas3flash install the firmware i end up with "Chip is in RESET state, Attempting Host Boot... ERROR: Firmware Host Boot Failed: coming up. prior to that, it shows everything as fine and acceptable. not sure what the problem is. am i supposed to jump the rkey pads or something?
