I'm trying to shop for some 16GB DDR4 ECC UDIMM (prefer 3200MT/s if possible since this will pair with a Ryzen) which is less common and more expensive than ECC Reg. I've been burned by Kingston in the past on the consumer side, so I'd prefer to avoid them. I know Samsung has some, the M391A2K43DB1-CTD -CVF and -CWE. Crucial is I think MTA9ASF2G72AZ-3G2B1 and MTA18ASF2G72AZ-2G6E2
I'm sure there are other "name brands" with ECC UDIMM as well that I've missed.

I did see some of the Samsung -CWE on memory.net, never purchased from them before and they are around half the price so not sure if it's legit.

Anyways, other models and thumbs up or down on memory.net or other resellers would be super helpful, I tend to trust people here more than elsewhere (especially random reviews :D )

I usually look for Mac Memory which ends up being Hynix. I have had pretty good luck with this. If you are getting smaller DIMMs it much cheaper since people upgrade their memory and then sell the smaller one. I suspect 16G will be harder to find.

Thanks for the SKUs, that really helps when searching!

Does Kingston put a higher level of care into the ECC UDIMM than their consumer ram? I would expect so for "full enterprise" but ECC UDIMM feels like the forgotten child often :)

Wouldn't those be SODIMM these days? Also plenty of non ECC mac memory out there, but worth a shot searching :)

can't follow you. use and have used plenty of kingston RAM, never issues.
can you explain some more ?

I stay away from G.Skill Aegis, every second DIMM is defective.

I've had issues with Kingston consumer (non ECC) in the past, both QC issues (mostly with SODIMMS) and part swapping/changing products and keeping the same part number. I'm hoping that their non consumer stuff is a little more strict

you mean they put Hynix D-Die in the KSM32ES8/16ME modules ? unlikely right?

I bought several full size ECC DIMMs this way, not SODIMM. I looked for Mac Pro (I think). You need to be careful and check pictures, part numbers etc to make sure you are getting ECC parts. The advantage was only for smaller DIMMs and not likely for 16G. People upgrade their macs and then sell the original smaller DIMMS

My preference is for Samsung, Hynix and Micron but I have had a few Kingston. I always thought you get whatever memory they are using at the time with "value" parts.

I'm not up on current prices so this may not be a deal. I have had good experience with macmotive.
You will likely get a better deal from individual sellers but with some more risk.

Supermicro's own DRAM absolutely works with their stuff, as you would hope. Just be sure you're getting it from a genuine-authorized source. Not Amazon vendors!

I've purchased 16GB and 64GB RDIMMs from memory.net before - they're based in CA and they're good. Never had a DIMM from them fail before.

Mac Pro 2019 RAM is RDIMM, we need UDIMM.
Sorry I did not check the specs of the latest Mac Pro.
Last time I bought Mac Pro memory from macmotive was Jan 2018 and it was ECC DDR3 for an earlier Mac Pro model.
Apple used to use the same standard chipset and xeon which required ECC UDIMM.

You can find cheaper smaller memory because people upgrade their machines and sell the original parts.
I got a whole bunch of 256G Samsung SSDs which were dumped when someone upgraded machines to larger SSD.

Yea, I could go with 8GB UDIMMs but I'd prefer 16GB so if I want to upgrade later I'm not in that exact boat lol

I bought 2x 16 GB UDIMM from memory.net 2 yrs ago and haven’t had issues either. Brand was with Hynix or Micron. It was on Supermicro compatible list. Price is reasonable.
