You are right, It seems I have newer BIOS as I thought, my build date is 12/02/2020:

Anyway GB last releases seems to be a little bit newer:

BMC update:
I have checked that blog and If you are talking about no-reboot flag, it is seems to be only windows related.
When checked suggested UEFI shell procedure, there is exactly request to unplug AC power (but not DC power).
Have you unplugged AC power from power supply after the upgrade process finished?
What does it mean: do not unplug DC power or reboot server?:

Does it mean do not unplug ATX plug from mainboard or push reset button or CTR:+ALT+DEL?

Thank you once more for clarification. I would like to avoid any issue :)

unplug AC preserves the BIOS from talking to BMC in inknown state.
i got only waiting for BMC to reboot msg because i used std. efi.nsh.
i waited 2 minutes and removed AC plug (without any other action like reset or CTR:+ALT+DEL)

Is there a chance I will not get through the POST when updated to F23 extracted from v2 and booting on my 7401P?

I removed the AC plug and after a while put it back. System booted ok, I have seen BMC 1.98 version in Bios information page. I couldn't log into BMC, so I checked BMC network setting and there was 192.168.1.1 as IP adress and the gateway as well. Have tried to change it to something reasonable, but it has changed back to 192.168.1.1 after IP config refresh. So I just changed it to 192.168.1.123 and commit by save and restart. After that CPU fan not running and can not POST. I do not know BMC IP address and LED at the board is flashing but nothing else.

Should I try to reset BIOS using removing the battery or jumper? Thanks for any help.

Clear BIOS jumper helped, i am back online with BMC working :)

I just wanted to backup my BIOS, what was not possible using my previous BMC version. I have already done it using the new one. What is the benefit of using MegaRAC? Thanks.

Should I have both CPU families ready when BIOS upgraded to your modified F23 from 2.x BIOS dated 2024 ?
I have read the whole thread, but I am not sure what is the correct procedure when upgrading BIOS for v1.1 to ROME family. Someone reported he is not able to run the previous family CPU when BIOS upgrade. Little bit confusing :-}.
I have made BIOS backup using v1.98 Veritiv BMC. Would it be possible to use that backup if anything fails (even when CPU not detected correctly and BIOS not POSTed?) ? O do you prefer to make backup with one of those HW programmers like ch341a programmer with clip ?

no. 2.x BIOS includes two BIOS each 16mb = 32mb chip size.
your board has only space for one BIOS gen.

you need RBU file to flash the dump back with BMC.
howto (your file is 1000000 not 2000000 lenght)

So the procedure is as following:
1.flash v2 modified BIOS
2. switch off
3. replace Naples CPU to Rome
4. reboot

If it fails, I mean some reported system didn't post, what is the recovery scenario?
I am expecting BMC will not work when system didn't post.
Should I have CH341A programmer ready and what backup whould I use?
