Well, the BIOS setting does say Extended APIC, not x2APIC like I googled now and saw on some screenshots. Yet the EMR should have an x2APIC - so I assume that is dependant on the BIOS support then? X2 does exist from Intel Core era ... so.. why its not there on (my) ES EMR? (or is that a specific differentiator for the ES?)i guess this is your issue. (IRQ remapping not supported without X2APIC)

"Cannot disable locked x2apic"and ran into a problem with X2APIC after I enabled it in the kernel.
others (non ES) have similar issue, google...X2 does exist from Intel Core era ... so.. why its not there on (my) ES EMR? (or is that a specific differentiator for the ES?)
means the same btw.BIOS setting does say Extended APIC, not x2APIC
grep REMAP /boot/config-$(uname -r) and look to see if CONFIG_IRQ_REMAP=y is set.I will not hunt this deeper now. I am glad I managed it to boot back and have it working.. just that the solution is very uncommon - flip a bios setting, which is not even explained or behaving like what the OS sees during the boot.# dmesg | grep -i apic -C 2

MS03-CE0 R12I just bought a gigabyte MS03-CE0 and a QYFS - 8480+ ES. Does anyone here have the R12 BIOS that is compatible with the QYFS? Thanks!
maybe newer BIOS, but fix was not mentioned in MS03 RelNotes. It’s the Samsung "Old Dram Vendor Detected" issue for the M321R8GA0BB0-CQK model. Are there any fixes for that?
original stock BIOS works with SPR-SP D0 up to R12.@RolloZ170 - that is a safe / modded bios? Josef told me to be careful with my MS03-CE0 and do not flash a stock one.
