I would want to put an HBA, an IBM M1015 flashed to LSI9211-IT that I have into the PCIe slot
Beware: The (very cheap sold) MJ11-EC1 board (where this thread is about) does not have a PCIE slot! It has a SlimSAS 8i slot so you would need adapters and cables to connect your HBA. People have mixed results with that.
If you go for an (much more expensive and hard to find one) MJ11-EC0 board than you are good.

yes if if you want output from an installed OS on it. Otherwise just to manage it, the BMC is what provides video TO it.
So say you want to install a headless server on it, BMC allows you to connect to its console.
If you wanted to install Windows on it, then either need a gpu to connect to a monitor or with the BMC to install it only. Then VNC, etc to the UI.

Does anyone know wether i can use a Slimsas to 8x SFF-8482 cable like this one to connect my 5 SAS disks to this board?
@hmartin the question above was about SATA drives, not SAS. Would a slimsas to 4x SFF-8482 cable work?

Quick question / workaround for a problem i have stumbled on.

i have a few of those baords which i use for TrueNAS as well as Proxmox.
one of my "ColdStorage" TureNAS Backupmachines was without power for roughly a month.

After i started it it bootlooped like a phone with a softbrick.
99 was the Code in the bottom left. I could not even get into the BIOS :(

My way around was shutting it off and after a few trys i got the BMC connected and made a reset of the BMC.
After that everything worked fine again.

So my question to you lovely community:
Is this known ? did it already happen to one of you?

Hi all,

I am reading so many different things and I am trying to get it clear to avoid a wrong purchase.

Can somebody precisely say what the pci-e x8 port slot is?

The question upon this is there a working and affordable adapter from this port to pci-e to 16 card so I can connect a gpu to it for Plex transcoding?
