Same for me and some others in the German forum. Seems to affect only 5950X. Worked for me after going to BIOS and setting "ECO mode" (can't recall the exact naming convention, might be "turbo-boost: off" or the like). The hypothesis is that for the 2-CCD chips the VRMs are underpowered causing power instability and crash when the CPU boosts.but it will freeze again 10-30 seconds after selecting an option. has this happened to anyone else? is the board DOA?
cpu is a 5950x
check IPMI LOGs for temp issues.it appears to be able to idle there indefinitely, but it will freeze again 10-30 seconds after selecting an option
AMD CBS -> CPU Common Options[sr0] CDROM not ready. Make sure there is a disc in the drive. repeated three times.no temp issues in logs. also it seems i spoke too soon because the ~100s was just a lucky shot, it seems to average around 40s with a couple times going highcheck IPMI LOGs for temp issues.

shows "Normal" sensors LOLattached is an image of the sensors: it froze around 30 seconds in, so it should be visible.
the fans are set that high on purpose
how ?Also measured the temperature of my VRMs and they were cool.
That does seem very high. My main Truenas build with this board uses 138w from wall at idle and that includes separate router (n100) and switches (CRS309-1G-8S+ and cheap 4+2 realtek)Around 190-200W is server power consumption)
sorry I misread, this is your old system ofcI know for powertop. In current system it didn't make any difference. Only changing from performance governor to power_safe make difference 248W -> 241W for whole rack(Around 190-200W is server power consumption)...
