Well...since its not been mentioned directly:

Cisco 3750E-48PD.

68Gbps full backplane wire speed...two - 10Gb ports (X2, which complicates things a tiny bit). Save on heat and size if you downgrade to 750W supply (its about 3 inches shorter), and still get 24 ports POE. Web Interface works good, but CLI is how Cisco dreamed it up from the beginning. LACP in HW, like a boss.

Non-POE version, around $250 on eBay. POE around $340. One I saw for that price included X2 to SFP converters to get 2 x 1Gb out of one X2 if you needed Fiber versus 1000BaseT.

Take a look at the tp-link t1700-28q. 24 port 1G and 4 sfp+. 300GBP so will be about 10eu in the next week or so...
Haven't checked power but assume it's pretty low, the switch is fanless. Multiple vlans over a lag config doesn't work via GUI on mine but does just fine via cli.
Thanks for this! I was looking exactly for a switch that has at least 4 SFP+ ports and quiet.

tp-link t1700-28q is listed on the spec sheet as max power consumption 21.8w so that's nice and Low, tp-link would not be my go to brand (other than small cheap 5-8 port home network switches) for sure but this looks ok.

@Evan, agreed. But it does it's job, makes no noise and sucks little power. Your mileage may vary but I'm pretty happy with it.

@fmatthew5876 The switch whines about sfp+ modules that aren't tp-link branded but mines works with cisco and HP compatibles. I've also used Dell SFP+ dac cables off flea bay with no problem. Somewhat cheaper than the one you link to. All my nics are intel 520's.

Was not trying to tell anybody not to buy it at all, i have been looking for a new switch and 4x10G ports is what I would want (or more), with fanless or very quiet being mandatory for its location, Low power also very important... pity i did not see it at the $254 (now $319) but rather temped to grab one myself. Pity it complains about Cisco sfp but maybe Cisco twinax DAC cables may be a good working choice if Thye do.

Evan, if you choose a different seller and then choose amazon prime you'll get the $254 price. They are currently out of stock and you'll have to wait a few weeks for it.

Oops did not check for cheaper just assumed the link was the cheap one...
To buy or not to buy...

So Cisco sfp work, it just throws a not compatible warning in the logs ?

It "complains" about the cisco compat modules but works just fine. When I say "complains" it logs a warning in syslog, to say that they are not supported. No great shakes, well not for me.

Mine is actually running at ~15W, with three DACs and some 8 GBe ports connected.

What do you guys think of this one? The fs.com rep suggested it to me

24 1gig ports, 4xSPF+ ports, and a console port. $400.

24x 100/1000Base-T with 4x 10GE SFP+ Switch S3800-24T4S | FS.COM

They also have 48 1gig ports, 4xSPF+ ports, and a console port. $480.

48x 100/1000Base-T with 4x 10GE SFP+ Switch S3800-48T4S | FS.COM

The shipping cost is high. One upshot is you can pretty much be guaranteed they will work perfectly with fs.com cabling.

It doesn't list all of the protocols like the Tp link page does.

JetStream 24-Port Gigabit Stackable Smart Switch with 4 10GE SFP+ Slots - TP-Link

In terms of power usage, does anyone know is that Power Consumption 21.8W a maximum power usage figure or a idle power figure?

I'm on the hunt now for a 10GBe switch with at least 4 ports on it. Do these things exist under $500?

Not that I've seen yet.

Buffalo has an 8 port for just over $500.

How about a used 12 port for $450?
