Be careful. They have one other issue. Since there are RM and desktop versions, and you can power via POE they multiply like rabbits. Like... oh I wish I had more wired LAN in this office... CRS226. oh I wish I had more wired LAN in this conference room... CRS226. Fanless too.
But with non-standart POE on the Lan#1 it isnt THAT usefull.

But with 10Gb and fanless :thatfeeling:

Anyone know of a Switch with more than 4 ports?
I really need to have 6-8 SFP+ ports of 10GbE without breaking the bank!

New not yet, Netgear and others have models with plenty of ports not but they are no where near this price point. There are some used ones that can be found on e-bay that had lots of ports but they are usually very power hungry, loud from their fans and potentially not supported by manufacturers anymore.

I bought one of these the other day. So far it's working pretty well. I can confirm it makes no noise, and it doesn't seem to get hot.
This switch seems to be the best for me being fanless and 4 SFP+ ports. Can the SFP+ take the regular 1Gb SFP transceivers? I would like to connect this to a POE switch which only has a SFP port (connecting with fiber will safeguard against power surge).

That would be awesome...if it doesn't cost $1000...which it likely will. I need a sub-$500 version of the ES-16-XG. :)

The new silicon for small, low power 10Gbe switches is finally having an impact on the market. This and the new Net gear devices really are game changers. In fact I'd be all over this one if Ubiquiti's quality control record hadn't been so poor recently. May just take a flyer on one anyway....36w for 16x 10gbe ports (before optics) seems hard to beet.

That is a very interesting power rating as the Copper Based 10G seems to be power hungry (relatively) my Cisco SG350x-24F is rated at 42.81 watts the copper version is 72.3 watts.

So what would you guys recommend for a silent/quiet switch with two or preferably 4 sfp+ ports on it? It will be in the bedroom where I am sleeping so don't want anything too loud

Wow this is going to be a really nice addition / even somewhat a game changer!

Every keeps saying that this is the year of 10G and it seems like they might be right =)
Tell me about it. Same amount of SFP+ as the Dell X4012 plus 4 10GbE copper ports for half the price! Sign me up! Now I can finally start utilizing the second SFP+ port in all 4 of my Xeon D servers.

@PigLover I have a feeling I am going to be buying one of the 16 port models just to try it. A few of the SFP+ ports to Mikrotiks as uplinks and I will be all set.
