Need 3+ SFP+ ports. Thinking hard about buying 2x Blade Network RackSwitch G8000F 48 Port Switch w/ 10GbE Uplink Module from ebay, combining the uplink modules into one switch and selling the extra bare switch. 4x sfp+ ports for around $320 after selling?

Great thread.

Other ideas: redundant power supplies, airflow direction and power consumption. Going out and buying all of them to test is a bit above the STH budget.

BTW the Dell X1052 is their new 48 port 1GbE + 4x 10Gb SFP+ switch for $639 on their homepage. A good sale or once they start turning up used they will be under $550 for sure.

I was thinking the exact same thing as the modules are scary priced by themselves and it seems someone is already doing this as there have been a few up for grabs, without modules, for $50 when the norm is ~$90.
