Hello,

I have been lurking the forums as a plain visitor for a while, before even attempting my build. Now it's my turn to ask for something, I guess.

My specs (the basic ones, jut let me know it you need anything more):

i7 6700k
16GB RAM
ASUS Z270-A Motherboard
2x SSDs via SATA
2x HDDs via SATA
Windows10 Pro

(No backup or other systems available to test anything on, sorry)

I recently bought a cheap HDD to expand my hungry system on. I am not planning a server - yet - but I liked the idea of having more space to work on.

I bought a 4tb MediaMax HDD on ebay, and found out "the hard way" I did not have any SAS port at all on my Motherboard.

Long story short, I bought an LSI 9211-8i PCIE board on ebay as well, for a real bargain price.
And a SAS-to-MINISAS cable, to connect the two.

Then came the hard part: the LSI board was not on IT firmware, so I flashed it with the last version, following the guides I found around the forums.
Everything went good: now I see the LSI fw option at the start, and the board is also recognized as a device, in Windows 10.
Onboard lights all flash green.

Yet the HDD does not seem to be working.

It is correctly plugged in, and I can hear/feel it spinning...yet LSI firmware and Windows 10 cannot see it or access it.

What could be the problem? Can you help me pinning things down?

Many thanks to anyone tossing here their two cents ;)

So...I'll be answering myself, because apparently I am an idiot.:p

Last night I went through the cable connections, unplugged and replugged all, until I was sure I had things properly in place...then I powered the PC on...and apparently things now work!

For future reference: always double/triple check the MINI-SATA cables.
The little b*stards may only seem to be plugged, when they are NOT. So, even when you hear the "click", always, always push them all the way into their socket. Better be brute, than sorry.

That will be all for now. I will get back lurking around the forums...
