I talk about HP Proliant's Bios ROM-based setup utility (RBSU). Not the Fusion-IO Bios

And the HP iLO4

Card is installed on Slot 3, but the server doesn't detect the ioDrive 2 installed. It says the slot is empty.
I have tried both cards on different slots on the 2 different servers.

I think the red led means they are faulty.

Also, make sure you are installing version 3.x of the VSL and not 1.x or 4.x

If you install 1.x or 4.x, it will not see the card, as they are not compatible.

Hello,

Software version is 3.2.14, which is the latest for this card, as per Sandisk Downloads.

Weird... it doesn't have any production labels on the back and has an inspection arrow top left on the back.

This looks like it was a test board/show board, or a refurb that didn't make it. No FCC sticker or anything.

I'd send that back. Based on it not showing up even with the 3.x driver loaded leads me to believe the FPGA has been cleared, which won't give you any chance to use it w/o a JTAG programmer and some know-how.

Back of a production card should look like this:

Hello acquacow!

Thanks a lot for your help and advice!

I am returning both today. Neither of them have FCC stickers, and look pretty much the same.

Also, totally shell out for the 1.2TB card instead of the 365 next time... the card is much faster with all 3 nand packs on it =)

Guys, I was keeping an eye on that. But with NVMe prices going down, what are benefits of Fusion IO to something like 960 Pro?
I get that I *might get a deal like* $250 per 1.2 TB with Fusion Io, and with 960 pro I get 5x times less and that's great. OTOH 960 pro is ~3x faster seq read/write
Any other advantages of Fusion?

960 Pro isn't as fast at low queue depth small file reads, has higher latency. Write endurance is about 1/10th as high. 960 has faster sequential, uses 1/10th the power, is tiny, bootable, and significantly more expensive.

You could write to the ioDrive 24x7 for the rest of your life and probably not wear it out =)

That aside, lofat's post is pretty on the money, though I've found the newer NVME desktop stuff to be optimized for 4k workloads, so if you are doing small 4k operations, that might work out better.

Well, my idea was that, even that I have multiple VMs on same 960, only one or two would be IO-heavy and 960 would handle that just fine.
But it cost more, and I guess performance will be less impressive when I put more VM's on that drive or use non-4k seq reads.
Waiting for Fusion IO for $230 again ;)
