Thanks. I’m in for one.

Any special drivers needed for Windows Server 2016?

Any idea if bootable (I would assume not).

They have a few....
There are 384 items available. Please enter a number less than or equal to 384.
I suspect they may get more flexible on pricing..

You'll need Windows driver , used to download the software from Sandisk web site.
Not sure where to download now. I'll research later for new download site .

I don't think it will be bootable.

I have ioDrive working in Windows , vShphere , Proxmox , as well as Ubuntu.

Would that be better than an optane for vsan (especially low qd) ? ;)

How is the linux support on these?

You say they use more power. Any idea how much?
Not low power. If your PCIe slot can can only deliver 25W, your write speeds will be throttled. So power draw is somewhere between 25W and 75W if its in 75W mode.

You should be able to build drivers for ubuntu, debian, proxmox, and redhat.

Not very scientific, I used power supply usage number within ipmi reporting.
It consumes may be 5w-15w more than DataCenter nvme drives.
During benchmark write testing, it may consumes a bit more than 25w, no where near 75w in the spec.
Many PCIe would supply 75w to the cards without issue.
For example: GPU card without using the 6 or 8pin power plug.

Endurance is in PB range, the drive will last longer than me ( I am 63 years old ).

Sandisk has the drivers, it is not too difficult to get the drive working in Ubuntu , Debian .

There is a long running thread about this baby.

Denied an offer of $115 for one. Didn't even counter.

Edit: Seller accepted $115 each for 2 drives. Buy in bulk, or try offering higher.

The 1.2TB ioDrive IIs are full 1.5GB/sec write at 25W. The 75W is needed for the gen3 cards that can write ~3GB/sec at 55W.

I'd bet that on write workloads larger than the drives themselves, the ioDrives would still write faster than current consumer nvme.

Write 10TB random to both a samsung 960 and to an ioDrive II. I bet the ioDrive II finishes sooner.

Can the storage available on these be halved in FreeNAS to use 600GB as ZIL and 600GB for L2ARC?

edit: seems like a quick search reveals some posts in 2019 that point to the possibility of there not being any freeBSD drivers for FusionIO?

Anyone got a benchmark result with these as cache layer in esxi vsan? :)
Not as a cache, but there are plenty of fusion-io white papers for all flash vSAN.

I had a 3-node all ioDrive vSan for a tad at home before re-purposing the drives.

The last drivers were for FreeBSD 8 or 9. There was a patch someone wrote for one version past that, but there's nothing newer unfortunately.

Best you could do is pass a drive or two through to a VM running FreeNAS, or pass it through to a VM running ON FreeNAS.

Can anyone help locate drivers? I’ve tried looking around on SanDisk, but am empty-handed. Specifically:

- Windows Server 2016
- Windows 10 (might be the same driver)
- ESXi 6.0U3
- Arch Linux
- Debian Linux (might also be the same)
