Can anyone help locate drivers? I’ve tried looking around on SanDisk, but am empty-handed. Specifically:

- Windows Server 2016
- Windows 10 (might be the same driver)
- ESXi 6.0U3
- Arch Linux
- Debian Linux (might also be the same)

Thanks for this. Any tips for installing on Arch Linux? I do not see that distribution (or a generic linux), but perhaps another could be ported.

Is it possible to use these in a desktop case? Or will there not be enough airflow for cooling?

I am using it in a tower case now, it has 1 x 120mm slow fan in front , 1 x 90mm fan in the back.
iodrive is around 50 degree. I don't mind the temperature because it is cheap as dirt, also it is a drive build for datacenter. It should be able to handle the heat. If the drive died premature, I am OK with it.

I also have iodrive in a 1U case, I never look at the drive temp .
It's been working fine in the 1u chassis for couple of years.

i have one installed on a rackmount server without air conditioned for almost 2yrs now. Temp ave around 64degree Celsius.

The ioDrive IIs have an industrial FPGA and will stay online till 98-100C.

Prior to hitting shutdown temps, the drive will write-throttle (somewhere around 85C?) in an attempt to keep itself cool and hope you notice something is wrong.

Failing that, it'll take itself offline if it continues to get hot.

The desired rating for them is 300LFM of airflow, but they will survive with much less.

Received 5 x iodrive2 this afternoon.
Updated firmware , secure erase , benchmark the 5 drives.

Rated PBW: 17.00 PB
Drive 1 - 0.11 TB written
Drive 2 - 25 TB written
Drive 3 - 25 TB written
Drive 4 - 34 TB written
Drive 5 - 135 TB written

So these drives are still in infant stage.

You'll have to get the source rpm from WD/SanDisk's site and download the drivers for your version. They have stuff for up to 16.04 currently as well as the source rpm to rebuild it against newer kernels.

That's funny to me, because I used to sell these cards for $25,000 each and now they are selling for $145 and you want them to go lower, lol!

I helped sell ~$60M worth of Fusion-io in 7 years. It really sucked to see it die via buy-outs and instance on NMVe.

Another way to look at this $105 1.2TB , endurance: 17PB SSD.

A SSD would last 50 years , if one writes 1TB per day.
$105 / 18,250 days = $0.0057 per day.

New update , see thread below , 144 years at 30TB/day write workload.
1 TB per day is 4,320 years
$105 / 4,320 years = $0.25 per year

I was doing write endurance math for a customer who wanted a 3-node elasticsearch cluster to injest 30TB a day.

I was just doing the rough math on a whiteboard and kept coming up with numbers greater than 100 years and figured I was off by a zero somewhere.

No, the actual wear-life with 3 HP DL580s filled with ~40TB each of ioDrives was about 144 years at 30TB/day write workload.

Took everyone's brain a few minutes to really wrap our heads around that one.
