Poland
Fresh installation of Fujitsu custom 7U3, one Intel P4610, one 900p, one S3700, E3-1245v6, 4x16G mem -> 31W idle in ESXi boot screen
Just out of curiosity, where is your 10G NIC going when you use it as vSAN for your VM's?

Not quite - I wish.

Its 205 per server - and 25 for all 5 shipped.

So a total of 1050 EUR :)

Which is A LOT more than I thought to spend on this when I started thinking about it because @Rand__ posted his message about this "cheap" chassis :)
I would think 175€ would get you better stuff than 1 lowly xeon and two measly memory modules ... I am sure there are better deals to be made. Just need to find them ;)
Edit - or 170 if you add 5 more for shipping since thats likely more expensive then
Is that with tax or without?

- You can get new 2666 modules for €42 (inc tax)... that leaves you 80 bucks for cpus...
...
- Ok, CPU prices are crazy. But you can get single/individual 1220v6's at ~€50 - that leaves a lot for shipping;)

Oh and I spent €145 on 5 of these and not a dime more yet. Not my fault you don't hoard all your old stuff;)

Which 10G nic? I have a CX3 in the first x8 slot - which is why I'll be using vsphere 7 instead of 8.

Btw, thanks to the open ended pcie slot I also could run a x16 CX5 in the box (o/c at limited rate), but both the 2x25G card and the 2x100G cards draw ~6W idle more and are likely to get hotter too... but its an option for vsphere 8 - or when the CX3Pros dont do proper RoCEv2 after all...

Just fyi - without the CX3 the box idles at ~27-28.

28W idle box with this config: Intel P4610, one 900p, one S3700, E3-1245v6, 4x16G ?

Its 205 including VAT, but I might be wrong, since seller's math is different than normal math :)

And if its including VAT, then ex vat (Polish), we are down to 166,66 EUR

I doubt that can be found on ebay cheaper, since nowhere is a seller that have 5 units, and its the cheapest option. All sellers that have more than 1 item are more expensive, and those that are cheapest have 1 or max 2 items, and I would then buy 3-4 bundles of RAM/CPU and pay 3-4x shipping twice.

And yes, I wish I had a lot of old hardware I could just swap into these chassis, then I would have ordered 5 units already.

The other seller that sells for 20 EUR came back with an offer to ship 5 units in 3 packages, so I would save 2x shiping (50 EUR total saved + 5x5 EUR for chassis) - but their shipping is still 75 EUR for 5 units shipped total

But still nothing beats getting everything from one seller because of the many times shipping I have to pay.

EDIT: Actually it never occured to me that new ram might be cheaper than trying to buy it on ebay - that might change things around a bit :) Since I can definately find a seller outside of ebay that has 10x8GB modules - I will probably not be able to get a discount, but if I can get 10x at 1x shipping price it will probably be worth it.

Still happy to offer to consolidate shipping for you if seller is from Germany and its worth shipping twice over to you directly...
I also have two 1220's left I think that I prolly have no memory for atm...

You are too kind :) But the only thing I think makes sense is the CPU's and they are okay, since I can get 5 shipped for 15 EUR total - and the chassis will be expensive for you as well to ship - unless you can ship it cheaper than 75 EUR for 5 units total.

RAM I think I need to find a german online reseller that sells the ECC UDIMM's and accept paypal, and preferably will sell ex VAT. Then I can combine the RAM into one package, and the I will be looking at:

(20x5)+75 = 175 EUR for 5 chassis shipped
410 EUR for 5 CPU's shipped - or 5x shipping +5xwhatever price I can find it at
420 (according to you) for 10 ECC UDIMM's+ shipping (15-20 EUR)
A grand total of 1025 EUR or 205 per unit

Which is still a lot more than what I imagined when I saw 25 EUR chassis :)

And 55 bucks for caddies...

€42 was Mindfactory, + 6.90 shipping within Germany ( -Tax)
Shipping 5 Units was €50 iirc, that would leave space/weight for smaller parts, that would be 29x5 =145 (-Tax) + 50 = 195
Top 3 Ebay sellers (private/company mix) are at €60 shipped + my two = €280

Total 957 (-some tax) which is 191,40 ea.

But yeah, its far less enticing if you have to buy half the stuff at the current prices

This could bring my total down to 856+shipping for the RAM (ex VAT) for 5 units shipped - we are getting there :) (if mindfactory can sell without VAT directly to me and not rip me off on shipping)
Message from mindfactory after having registered:
" Auf Grund der aktuellen Situation können Lieferungen ausschließlich innerhalb Deutschlands erfolgen. Wir bitten Sie daher, eine deutsche Lieferadresse zu hinterlegen oder unseren Abholservice zu nutzen."

I am not sure that situation they mean - surely it cannot be COVID :)

So no dice :) at least not directly for me - strange though what situation that causes them not to be able to ship to Denmark - I buy a lot of stuff from Germany.
