Selling an SSD tray from my lab. This is a HP d3700 tray with 24x Intel SSD DC S3700 400GB drives. I actually have rails for the Disk tray. Tray has 25x 2.5" hot swap bays.

1x HPE D3700 SAS3 with both I/O Modules and rail kit.
24x Intel SSD DC S3700 400GB - G62040-203
24x HP 2.5" hot swap disk trays.

SSD's have current firmware and show 90%+ life left - even after 5ish years of uptime.

Have almost $2400 into this over last few months - want $2k/OBO.

Have box, will ship - but will ask for actually shipping charges.

So you are giving up on the 48 drive array?
No, Upgrading 24x of them to 1.96TB SSDs.. lol . Made headway over the weekend.. Can max 10gb via SMB and NFS now - anything above that I decided not to waste my time (although I did start pricing 40gb switch/nic's). Main system now is:
SuperMicro X9DRH-iTF, 2x E5-2590 v2 , 256GB Ram
BPN-SAS3-216A-N4
24 SSD & 3x 9340-8i (SAS3)
Optane 900 SLOG

Bidding on another BPN-SAS3-216A-N4 and already have 3x 9340-e8 for expansion shelf..

I'm not really happy with it - But I'm maxing line speed on 10gbe. Not high workload (no video editing or anything)( so it doesn't really matter for now. Honestly spent way to much time and money trying to solve my issues - just have to accept it as it solves my original goal.

I think its a cpu series/mobo issue - as even with 3x SAS3 cards and backplane - DD was getting me 2700 Write and 8000 read , and practically same numbers via single SAS3008-8e card to this disk tray..

Going to give some Sandisk Cloud Eco 2 a spin - I figure it should be good enough for file and plex storage. lol

SAS or sata?

And i dont think its a cpu/mobo issue - I have run similar tests on e5'v4s and SP's too, and its always the same issue with scaling (in my experience)

SATA - going from SAS2 to SAS3 and that back-plane definitely helped - but still hitting that limit. Maybe I'll throw centos and try with that again - but for now - I will be happy for line speed.
