edit. my comment below is directed to @DracoDan

Broh, I've picked up ram from Hazily2019 in the past, and at a good rate.

If you're buying/selling/trading on forums then you have a silicon hobby, and your life shouldn't depend on someone else's yard sale. If you needed these for work then they'd be invoiced and ordered through another channel. The rest of the world may be slow to come around to the lean times we're experiencing.

"Well, it's rather brutal here. We're advising our clients to put everything they've got into canned food and shotguns."

I do not run a business...myself a bunch of students just have a bad tech hoarding issue when my department decoms machines and they give these machines to student staff and staff assistants. If this was a business, I would follow STH guidelines and rightfully go to eBay. But @DracoDan I understand what you did and I just hope you feel better about yourself after taking your gripe out on a bunch of students who are trying to make ends meet ...
I was going to move on and just forget about this, but... wow. So you're telling me you were given all this hardware, and you are now selling it for $60,000 to "make ends meet"?! While not a traditional business I think it's clear that it's a defacto business (which is called out in the rules). The way I understand this sales forum (and all the others I have used) is that it's for people selling off hardware they previously used but now no longer needed, Ie. they upgraded, plan to upgrade, or decided to stop running a home lab/server (it's servethehome.com after all). If you are using it to sell stuff that you acquired without any intent of using it yourself, and now you're selling it for a profit... that's a defacto business and you are defacto breaking the rules.

Just a synopsis for anyone reading this, @Hazily2019 has 414 sticks of RAM, which are a mix of server and desktop, and his asking price is almost $60,000 total, but he says this isn't a business or defacto-business, which is explicitly prohibited in rule: 9. No posting on behalf of an established business or as a defacto-reseller. These forums are only for personal transactions. Commercial entities may contact the site administrator about advertising opportunities.

FWIW, @Hazily2019 was giving 64GB DDR4-2666 sticks for free a few months ago on this very forum, back when RAM was cheap. I got five sticks from the man for the cost of shipping.

I think it's disingenuous, at best, to ask someone to sell gear they have for below market price when prices are this crazy. And it's not like it will make any difference. The most probable outcome is someone will just snatch the whole lot and sell it for much higher on ebay.

Yup! Happens a lot.

How a person comes by their stuff is not a concern unless it is clearly stolen, the prices are going to be what the market bears, and it sucks in this most recent market. The only reason I didn't buy anything is that there wasn't anything I was lookin for right now. The only thing I might have gone for would have bee 64gb modules for work, and the paperwork to push that through (if I even had the budget) would have taken way too long. And I'd need to match them to the same model as is already installed so the servers are happy.

100% definitely not stolen. Our HPC lab gets people to volunteer a few months of the year and when they decom servers , they give students a chance to take them on a first serve first come basis. The only thing missing are hard drives ...so we use these machines for student clubs and such and sell of parts to fill in for replacement parts, licenses etc. You should see the equipment the music lab has collected over 2 years. Our group's collection is almost over three years too

$300 for the Z170 setup is kinda steep ngl, a 3600 curbstomps it in every metric and that thing runs on a $50 B350 board.
