Hey everyone, I'm back with two R740s.

They're both 8 Bay R740 SFFs that I'm looking to sell separately. The main difference between the two is that one has both sockets populated while the other only has one CPU. They're both in excellent condition as seen in the photos I posted below. The only cosmetic damage they have is to their lids.

Dual 4116 R740 $2450:
  • Small Form Factor - (SFF - 2.5in)
  • 8-Bay Drive Cage (8 x 2.5in System Backplane) (No trays nor drives)
  • Dual Intel Xeon Silver 4116 12-Core 2.1GHz 16.5M 9.6GT/s 105W
  • 64GB (1 x 32GB) + (1 x 32GB) DDR4-2666
  • PERC H330 Adapter -12G SAS,6G SATA- (RAID 0,1,5,10,50)
  • iDRAC 9 Express
  • Riser 1: Two x16 slot PCIe
  • Riser 2: One x16 slot; Two x8 slot
  • Riser 3: Not installed
  • Dell Broadcom 57412 - Dual 10Gb SFP+, Dual 1Gb RJ-45 (NDC)
  • Single 495W Platinum Power Supply
  • Dell Static Rail Kit for 2 or 4 Post Rack

Single 4116 R740 $2200:
  • Small Form Factor - (SFF - 2.5in)
  • 8-Bay Drive Cage (8 x 2.5in System Backplane) (No trays nor drives)
  • Single Intel Xeon Silver 4116 12-Core 2.1GHz 16.5M 9.6GT/s 105W
  • 32GB (1 x 32GB) DDR4-2666
  • PERC H330 Mini Mono -12G SAS,6G SATA- (RAID 0,1,5,10,50)
  • iDRAC 9 Enterprise
  • Riser 1: Three x8 slot PCIe
  • Riser 2: One x8 slot
  • Riser 3: Not installed
  • Dell Broadcom 57412 - Dual 10Gb SFP+, Dual 1Gb RJ-45 (NDC)
  • Single 495W Platinum Power Supply
  • Dell Static Rail Kit for 2 or 4 Post Rack
Pics:

As mentioned above, for the dual 4116 system I'm looking for $2450 + shipping OBO and for the single 4116 I'm looking for $2200 + shipping. I can ship via USPS, UPS, or FedEx. I can also do a local sale in the Californian Bay Area. If local we can do cash otherwise PayPal F&F is preferred (I have 30+ sales over on /r/homelabsales and 13 on /r/gamesale) or PayPal G&S.

If anyone has any questions I'd be more than happy to answer them as well as taking more photos!

I know on some of the x20 and x30 you can "modify" them fairly easily to add more cages, finding the right cables and routing them can sometimes be a pain, especially if you want to put the HBA/RAID somewhere Dell didn't intend... :D No idea how easy/possible it is on the x40.

Oh yeah it's definitely possible! It's more of a DIY project, but it shouldn't be terribly hard at all if it's something you wanted haha. I just took a look at them, and you would need to drill out a few rivets holding in the current front panel and then an extra cage + backplane should just slide in. Then you'd just need something to hold down the cage (or you could just let it sit there if you plan on using SSDs ;))
