I'm looking to sell my excellent condition, very lightly used barebones Supermicro 836 chassis. I'm moving to a new house and figured now was the time to sell it and go with something different. It has the following:

BPN-SAS2-836EL1 = SAS Expander Backplane

MCP-310-39001-0N = Air shroud

PDB-PT826-8824 = Power distributer

Choice of 1 x PWS-741P-1R and 1 x CSE-PT0130L OR 2 x PWS-801-1R

MCP-220-83605-0N = 2 x 2.5" Hot Swap Kit

MCP-290-00053-0N Rev. B = Rack rails

CBL-0084L = Front panel adapter

CBL-0424L = 8 pin EPS to 2 x 8 pin PCIE connector

Everything is in perfect working condition and is in current use. The 740W Platinum PSU isn't as quiet as the 920P-SQ's but it's very close. I'd prefer to sell locally in the Northern Alabama/Southern Tennessee area, but I can do shipping to the contiguous US.

Local Huntsville, AL area ( or within an 1.5 hour drive) Price: $400 $350 (Local Cash)

Shipping Asking Price: $450 + shipping $480 shipped to Contiguous US (PayPal)

Might not be expensive for eBay but it’s expensive for people that know what these used to cost. Imho

Demand is high and supply is low. It’s definitely more than it was just a year ago, but there are not many 16 bay SAS2 backplane options out there that are cheaper.

I’m willing to negotiate a little and drive to save on shipping.

Prices on these have certainly jumped up, it is what it is. For the current market, this is fairly priced IMHO. Like anything as a consumer, it's up to you to determine your need and timing.

7/24 Update: Dropped price by $100 for local and non-local. I also forgot to originally add the two adapter cables that come with the chassis. These are helpful if you want to use a non-Supermicro motherboard and/or a use a GPU that requires a power connector.
