T2618401 is an amazing board..but I thinks it's 2008 SAS. GLWS!
I thought it had a different LSI controller than the T2380103, but looking at my notes you're correct. I've updated the description.

It turns out that the HP Z210 uses the same power supply pin-out as the Z420 (despite loads of people on HP's forums telling you they're different).

After much head scratching (because the Z210 doesn't support 3rd gen CPUs and apparently I can't read) I've tested the board with an ATX to HP adapter. In that case, all you'd need is a heat sink (as HP used 100x70mm mounting holes).

If anyone is interested in the board, I'll include the ATX adapter with it.

That's not surprising since most people on the HP forums are probably citing the part numbers versus reality. When I posted on there with confirmation that 256GB of 32GB LRDIMMs could be installed in a z420 v1 motherboard with a v1 xeon (e5-2630L in my case), the first response was how that was not the official memory and that 32gb is the maximum it can take since it only uses ecc udimms.

HP, like Dell is quite standard even in their proprietary designs so it makes sense that the power supplies between the z210 and z420 are the same pinout, and it's great to have that confirmation. :) Even the stock HP heatsinks are quite cheap even compared to aftermarket options and work very well as they are overengineered as a lot of HP/Dell stuff is. :)

Did you ever try manually flashing the newer boot block to your motherboard? The Z420 board I have has the newer boot block supporting v2 CPUs, I can provide an SPI dump if you'd like.

I haven't because I'm not even fully utilizing it in its current config. o_O But having that SPI dump would be nice in case I need to upgrade it. :) Thank you!

These are very interesting informations. I'm planning to upgrade a Z420 at work with a v2 CPU. How do I know if I have to update something? Is every Z420 affected or are there newer versions which already support newer v2 CPUs?
I bought this Z420 as used gear so I don't know what original configuration was.

Yes, you can easily tell which version your motherboard has by the following:
To determine if the Z420 can support the v2 CPUs, look in the F10 BIOS setup for the boot block date - If the Z420 has a boot block date of 12282011, it supports only the v1 CPUs - If the Z420 has a boot block block of 03062013, it supports both the v1 and v2 CPUs.
There is also a guide on GitHub about how to upgrade the boot block: SuperThunder/HP_Z420_Z620_Z820_BootBlock_Upgrade

The motherboard I have came with the newer 2013 boot block and did not require upgrading to support v2 CPUs.

Here's the screenshot from the BIOS "System Information" page showing the newer 2013 boot block (highlighted in red):

Luckily my Z420 already has the newer version.
But do I see it correctly that you have installed RDIMMs, @hmartin? So Registered RAM? I read Z420 would only support unregistered ECC RAM.

Yes, the Z420/Z620 supports Reg ECC DIMMs. As far as I know, every Xeon E5/C602 platform should support RDIMMs.

Slowly I'm managing to downsize. If there is anyone lurking who would be interested in something in the list, but feels the prices are too high, please PM me and we can negotiate (I'm thinking mostly for the motherboards/servers). I would rather get slightly less from a STH member than deal with selling on eBay.

I guess the free stuff is more ewaste than I had thought. No one seems interested
