Hi all,

This is my first post on this board. I have some cool projects to share, and also some questions to ask, but I wanted to get this out of the way first, as I have a pretty pressing need to liquidate some of my gear for cash.

For sale is an HP Proliant DL580 G7 server. It is currently up on eBay, so I am linking to that listing, but I am willing to do the transaction outside of eBay via PayPal if you wish. (I hope this post is allowed; I didn't see anything explicitly prohibiting posting of personal items on eBay or other similar sites in the sticky). It is not an auction-style listing, it is fixed price. The current asking price is $525 (plus $95 shipping, which I know is a lot, but this thing is HEAVY).

Link to the eBay listing:
HP ProLiant DL580 G7 4x Xeon L7555 CPUs @ 1.87GHz / 192GB Ram / NO HD/ 4U Server 884962397961 | eBay

Link to the DL580 G7 Quickspecs:
https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/getpdf.aspx/c04123267.pdf?ver=19

The server has 4 Intel Xeon L7555 processors at 1.87 Ghz, each with 8 cores / 16 threads, for a total of 32 cores / 64 threads. Each processor maxes out at 2.53 Ghz (turbo), and has 24 MB of L3 cache). The maximum supported core/thread count is 40/80, available by installing one of the supported 10-core Xeons (E7-4850, E7-4860, E7-4870, or E7-8867L).

Link to the installed CPU specs:
Intel® Xeon® Processor L7555 (24M Cache, 1.86 GHz, 5.86 GT/s Intel® QPI) Product Specifications

The server has 64 DIMM slots, 48 of which are currently populated with 4GB Hynix DDR3 ECC RAM modules, for a total of 192 GB of RAM. The maximum amount of RAM supported is 2 TB (64x 32GB modules).

Both of the additional motherboard expansion boards are installed, allowing the system to support up to 11 PCIe cards (all full-length/full-height; 6 slots are PCI-E 2.0 x8, 5 slots are PCI-E 2.0 x4):

The system has the optional 10 G Fiber Channel ports installed. It also has the standard 4 gigabit ethernet ports, and 1 iLo 3 ethernet port for out-of-band management.

The listing includes 2x 1200 watt common-slot HP power supplies, but I can include 1 or 2 more if you want, for $25 each.

No hard drives are included.

See the listing for plenty more pictures and other details, or feel free to ask me any questions.

Thanks!

Samir

Nice little beasty! How much do you think it weighs? I have killer rates with UPS so I'm wondering how much it would be to ship with my rates.

Hmm, good question... the quickspecs state the following:

Weight (approximate)
Maximum (all hard drives, power supplies, DIMMs and processors installed) 100.0 lb (45.4 kg)
Minimum (one hard drive, two power supplies, four DIMMs, and two processors installed) 66.0 lb (30.0 kg)
The only things that are really missing from the "maximum" list are two of the power supplies (assuming you don't want to buy those as well), 1/4 of the DIMMs, and hard drives. Since the DIMMS don't weigh that much, and it only has slots for 2.5" disk drives, I'm going to guess 90+ pounds.

Yeah that's still going to cost a chunk for sure, even with a deep UPS discount.
