Hi Guys,

Maybe I can bring some Christmas cheer to anyone looking for these Enterprise SSD drives before I put them up on eBay. These are the 400GB SAS SSD Hitachi drives with the great endurance ratings of 35PB (35,000 TB). I picked up 2 from the famous thread posted by Whitey and I recently picked up another 24 for a bit more. I now realize I don't need all of them so I'm selling the 14 drives listed here for the same price I paid which was $140 each.

All have been fully tested using Badblocks and HD Sentinel Pro and they all report 100% health. The total bytes written as reported by S.M.A.R.T are as follows:

39.97 TB
39.72 TB
45.10 TB
39.32 TB
44.27 TB
43.83 TB
39.75 TB
43.85 TB
40.28 TB
43.58 TB
45.19 TB
38.64 TB
64.49 TB
201.71 TB

If requested, I can package specific drives from the above list on a first come, first serve basis. Also, I've already converted these from 520 to 512 sector size so no need to get out your sg3_utils tools to convert them.

Shipping is included within the US and Canada. Anyone outside this area I'm sure we can figure something out.

Some final specs for those that would be interested:

Make - Hitachi
Model - HUSSL4040ASS600
Model ID - SLR5A-S400SS
Size - 400GB
Interface - SAS2
Firmware - ABAB

Good luck!

what's the spec on those?
I would bet they are good for write cache?

Whitey, you're running around 5 vm's per drive? I was originally planning 1 VM per drive when I was looking at 24 of these, but I then decided to got to 2 per VM and use a total of 12. These are mostly Server 2012/2016 VMs with Visual Studio, SQL Server, Dynamics CRM, GP, AX etc so they may be bigger than most VMs.

Just a quick update on the drives. 2 have sold and the remainder are pending sale to a forum member.

I hadn't thought about 'number of VM's to SSD ratio' but I have roughly 40-60 VM's on any given day running in my lab on top of a 8-way stripped mirror hussl setup served up over 10G NFS back to vSphere...never hit a performance wall yet so I will keep loading up until it bleeds :-D
