So, wanted to jump back on this thread and say what a pleasure it was making a purchase from sfbayszfs! Picked up a SM SC216, Intel RES2SV240 SAS expander, CSE-PTJBOD-CB1 power board, a few SFF-8087 to SFF-8088 connectors, rails, SFF-8088 cables and a few internal SFF-8087 cables. All was packaged neatly into a single box and shipped out to Canada in under a week. Extremely helpful throughout and provided a lot of information.

Racked it up. Loaded it up with 24 SSDs and powered it up and thought, wow, these fans scream! It was by far the loudest thing in the rack and I've got nearly 22U occupied with other servers and switches. Swapped out the fans with super quiet simple PC case fans (no motherboard, CPU or RAM in this - just a DAS case) and what a difference. If it weren't for the lights being on, I wouldn't know it was on at all.

All-in-all, extemely happy!

That's the problem with the first generations of the control boards without ipmi, no support for pwm fans.

Bump for sold items removed, price drops, new items added, and moving a few items to my other post - thanks everyone, my home is becoming happier as these items find new homes :)

Sold items removed, and some price cuts and clarifications - for those interested in SAS2 expander backplanes to upgrade an SC846 chassis, I am down to one BPN-SAS2-846-EL2 at this point.

Hopefully I'll have time to inventory and add the last of my extra stuff that didn't fit before soon - thanks everyone, and happy 2017!

PM Sent for the Supermicro system. Would save me a mountain of Time/Resources to just buy the system I want.

I'm interested in one of the following items if they are still available.

Supermicro rackmount chassis
and JBOD w/ trays, screws. Add $60 for Rev B rails for anything larger than 1U.
  • $540 - SC847 36-bay SAS2 single expander server chassis - BPN-SAS2846-EL1
  • $640 - SC847 45-bay SAS2 *dual expander* JBOD chassis - BPN-SAS2846-EL2
Supermicro Backplanes:
  • $300 - BPN-SAS2-846-EL2 double SAS2 expander 24-bay

Just wanted to say that I bought a few things from sfbayzfs and just received the package yesterday. Packed very nicely in a sturdy box and shipped up to Canada with no damage. Very helpful and friendly throughout the entire transaction and provided lots of extra information on the parts we were discussing. Great guy to deal with!
