On the 6027TR, how is the backplane split among the nodes? Is it dynamically configurable? How are they connected to the node, meaning what SAS controller do they connect with? Sorry, not familiar with these...

It's my understanding these are SATA only. (All of these multinodes)

The nodes slide into the chassis and everything goes through that single connection point, no SAS cables, no sata cables, they're hard configured x# Storage per-Node.

The controller is determined by the riser that connects the backplane to the node. For example in the 6027 if you were to swap out the risers with
4 x BPN-ADP-SAS2-H6IR you could use SAS drives as the actual drive backplane supports SAS. It would probably run you $300-400 to buy them.

If you compare the parts list on the 6027TR-H71RF you'll see that the risers are the real difference between the SKUs.
