Formal specs and pretty pictures: FreeNAS Mini

I purchased this system brand new from iXsystems in 2015. The system runs ZFS, and is as close to silent as possible. It is whisper quiet, and is a strong performer. It far outpaces the prepackaged systems like Qnap/Synology, especially when you start adding packages like Plex transcoding, CrashPlan, or other utilities. I have installed a fresh copy of Freenas 11, and I would be happy to preconfigure the IPMI and FreeNAS network settings for the buyer, for a painless setup.

I have had the system powered off for the last 8 months since consolidating on to my larger FreeNAS system. I am located in Dallas, Texas and there is no charge for local pickup.
I do have an eBay account: p271 with 29 reviews and Positive Feedback (last 12 months): 100%
PayPal available for payment. I can post this on eBay (and pay the fees) if that helps with buyer protection.

I guess I should be doing my own research, but i'm curious why these gorgeous FreeNAS mini machines say they support up to 24TB (were only 6TB drives the max in existence when their marketing materials were put together?), what am i missing? I've been slowly researching my options for storage solution and planning my next move(s). Will the 5400rpm 8TB WD Reds i've been attempting to stockpile work in this machine?

My understanding is the size limitation has to do more with the physical construction / use cases for the 8TB HDDs than any limitations of this physical setup or FreeNAS system. The early 8TB constructions were "archive" drives not made to spin 24x7x365, no TLER/SCT/ERC (vendor dependent error recovery), etc. See Seagate 8TB Archive Drive in FreeNAS? for related discussion. Many others report good experience with 8TB NAS drives.
