Been away from FreeNAS for awhile and decided to give the latest version a spin. When trying to install I get the above error endlessly.

System Specs -

Supermicro SC846 Chassis
Supermicro X8DTE-F Motherboard
2 x Intel X5670 Xeons
Intel 20GB SSD (Don't remember the model)
64Gb DDR3 ECC RDIMM (4 x 16GB PC3L)
Dell Perc H310 freshly flashed to IT mode (Firmware is v20 or something like that)

No drives in the chassis at this point (Could this be the problem)

Found lots of references to this error but no solution.

Server works flawlessly with Server 2012 R2.

How are you trying to install? USB device?
Been a while, but this might either be USB or UEFI/Bios boot options, can't remember.

I'm installing from a USB CDRom Drive. I could find no option to install from a USB Drive, only install to a USB Drive.

You'd need to copy the ISO to an USB drive via rufus (Rufus) or a similar tool.
I tried that and ended up with 3 USB Drives that would blue screen any Windows box instantly when inserted. It also blue screened before Rufus finished. i thought I trashed 3 drives but Linux fixed all 3.

Maybe I have a corrupted DL, I dunno....

Weird, never had these kind of issues.

Can you install on another box and then simply move over?

If installing remotely doesn't work, that's plan B. It will be Monday before I can tackle it again.

I was able to get it installed remotely so I guess FreeNAS doesn't like USB CDRom drives.

Anyone have an opinion as to which interface is best, new or legacy?

I still prefer legacy, but if you start new then the new one might be better to get used to;)

I used the legacy interface before so I'm familiar with it. Think I'll play around with to new one and switch to legacy if I don't like it. :)

Thats what I try to do all the time as well, and then I am looking for sth and cant find it and back I go.
In particular I am missing the wipe disk option (which I used heavily a few weeks ago due to some disk tests)

Now I'm fighting a funky network issue. Connectivity is via dual port Solarflare 10g NICS but I'm only getting about 50MBs.
