Just as a quick heads-up to folks.

FreeNAS 11 u2 will boot on Denverton / Intel Atom C3000 series.

FreeNAS 11 u2 will not detect the Intel X553 NICs.

I do expect this will be fixed in a future revision. Simple as using updated drivers and the iXsystems guys will need to update.

Cool. Good to see that the new BMC didn't make the Proxmox installer video bug any worse...

Very interested in this one.

New thread coming... but it does work out of the box with the 5.0 download that is on the site right now.

This is a surprise to anyone? FreeNAS is FreeBSD so perpetually late to the party with H/W support.

I'm sure they'll fix. @Patrick what about boards with 1G?

Maybe you should be a bit careful with sweeping statements made in ignorance.

10 got support here: [base] Revision 315333
11 got support here: [base] Revision 320897
12 got support here: [base] Revision 320688

FreeNAS uses the FreeBSD kernel and some of the base install of FreeBSD, but adds a lot of additional software and changes other parts.
It's by no means representative of FreeBSD in part or as a whole.

@OBasel the 1Gb will work on boards with supported NICs.

@someoneentirelyelse that is one of the reasons I was intrigued to see that they did not get picked up in the FreeNAS 11u2.

Not really a huge issue. FreeNAS boots just fine. Boards are still a month out from retail availability. There is still lots of time to get an updated driver in there.

Normal behavior with new OSes. Proxmox VE 5.0 worked Proxmox VE 5 with Intel Atom C3000 Series Denverton

Also Ubuntu 16.04.3 booted with the HWE kernel and detected NICs without issue.

VMware ESXi 6.5u1 is not finding the network adapters even with the roll up.

To be fair, Proxmox only worked "out of the box" due to fortunate timing - they just recently released 5.0 which happened to move to the one of the newest mainline kernel revs, which happened to include the X553 driver. Had the Denverton lineup come out on its original schedule the then-current Proxmox (4.x) would not have supported it without patches.
