You Guys get free BSD to work on Hyper-V?

I've been trying but none of the downloads work for me. I have an intel processor running server 2016.

Anytime I try to ingest the vhd file the vitrual machine will not boot.

Are you installing FreeBSD from scratch within Hyper-v or using some preconfigured vhd?
Generation 1, no dynamic memory, etc?

When you say that it "will not boot", where does it get stuck in the boot process?

Just my 2 cents here, I've tried the VHD before but can't remember if it worked or not.
I think it didn't, hence I always did manual installs.
These days I use HardenedBSD because it has mitigation build in, and there is no VHD file available.

Other then that, FreeBSD works great. OPNsense (running on top of FreeBSD) works perfectly.
Gen1 and Gen2, btw.

Also, what manxam says. "will not boot" is very vague.
