Hi all -

I'm with The IT Mart, an online store for server/workstation hardware. While we've been around for over 20+ years, the website itself is a new face for us.

As our introduction on STH, we're offering a 15% discount on the below server for forum members (with Patrick's pre-approval). Please CALL us in order to apply the discount before check-out.

Intel R2308GZ 2U Server- great for SAN/storage builds. Also ideal for ZFS.

2 x E5-2660 2.2GHz 8 Cores
32GB (this server has 24 total DIMM slots)
8 x 3.5” HDD Trays and 2 internal SSD slots
Dual 750W Platinum PSU
$540 ($459 after discount)

The above configuration is available here: Intel 2U STH Special

Or, you can configure your own and still take 15% off: Configure your own here

We offer custom configurations with a cross-flashed M1115 or 9210-8i (IT mode). Both have worked well for our customers that use FreeNAS, Nexenta, unRAID, etc.

Friendly note: The IT Mart is a subsidiary of MET International, so you may have purchased from one of our related online stores before. We're located in the Dallas TX area and have been in business since the early 90's.

We plan to offer more of our newly arrived items on STH if this one gains traction :)

This has been pre-approved.

MET International is an organization I know a lot of folks on STH bought C6100's and other servers from.

If I disable 1 socket what would the idle power draw average around?
When tested with a minimal draw config, the max difference is around 50w.

When tested with a 90%+ draw, the max difference is around 100w.

It's hard to give you an average as that's very configuration-dependent, but the difference between 1/2 CPUs will not be too significant.

Do you know if this board is able to populate a single core chip:
6 CPUs x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-1650 v2 @ 3.50GHz
