I have a MCX354A-QCBT that I want to crossflash to -FCBT to get 40GbE, I think the card is OEM; it doesn't bear any IBM/HP/Dell etc. P/N, but haven't powered it up yet so not sure. The card will be going into a Dell R720, so should I flash the latest Mellanox OEM firmware, or the Dell specific one (PSID DEL1090001019 I think?).
Is flashing the Dell firmware enough to fool the server into thinking it's a proper Dell card (DPN 01T7NW), and is there any benefit to doing so? More specifically I'm wondering if it may not trigger the 'third party fan response' if it's Dell vs OEM...

Oh, and is the latest (2.42.5000) firmware what I should be using? I remember having to fool around with some C-X2 cards a while back where you had to use specific versions to get RDMA working. I am only looking to use 40GbE, not IB.

Any information gratefully received!
