First fiber run, sanity check?

Hey all,

I have no idea what I'm doing with fiber, can someone sanity check my parts list for a simple run between two keystone jacks with patch cables and optics at each end?

Someone gave me a couple of 30m LC/LC MM 50/125 riser cables, they're orange so they're supposed to be OM2 (I think?) I'd like to use one of these with the following:

Endpoints are Brocade icx 6450 switches.

Am I on the right track here?

you're good to go fam

most fiber patch cables are "crossed over" eg the receive side on one ends up at the transmit side on the other (you want this). So when connecting two patch cables/runs together, they cancel eachother out and it ends up being a straight through run and won't link up. If this happens (you're not getting a link for some reason) just unclip one of the patch cable ends (any of them) and swap the two LC prongs

a lot of "riser rated" fiber runs are NOT crossed over so you'll end up fine, but just keep it in mind if the link doesn't come up for some reason

and since you'll have brocade official optics, you'll be able to pull optical monitoring data. just run "optical-monitor" at the global config level to enable it, then use "show optic x/x/x" to view it for a given port:

Baller, I've got everything on order. When the optics and keystone junctions arrive I'll test the run and make sure everything is good.
