no.
we have to distinguish "OEM tray" processors from "custom OEM" processors.
OEM tray processors are the same than the WOF variants but without end-customer warranty (only the OEM manufacturer can return the CPU)
Custom OEM processors can be unlocked and or whatever the OEM wants.
All ES/QS are custom processors for OEM&engineers, not end customers.
Thank you for exacting answer.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone measured or utilized an EPYC 7f72 Processor? I imagine its quite a beast with a 3.7GHz mulit, and a 3.2GHz base for that matter. I'd really like to see how it measures up to some of the latest retail core monster chips.

this is not the all core multi. the 7F72 runs 3,5Ghz all cores.
other lower TDP SKUs run at lower all core frq.
Yeah, obviously that's not the all core turbo speed. But according to what I am finding the internet, the base speed is actually 3.2GHz, no 3.5 as you are saying. Even servethehome itself has done a write up on this processor and according to them, the base speed is 3.2?
EDIT: Scratch that. I was looking at base clock, not all core turbo, which indeed is the 3.5Ghz number you mentioned.
Still, that seems like a pretty decent all core turbo clock, better than most other chips in the family, no?

Also, this is a very high TDP sku not sure why you are mentioning it with statements about lower TDP skus. It has a TDP of 240 watts! (not being critical, just asking for more clarity here)

Found a pretty interesting review on this processor right here:

i never sayd 3,2 Ghz base.
3,5 Ghz ALL CORE (TURBO at full load)
a SKU with 180W i.e. will not go up to 3,5Ghz.

Do anyone know if any of the 2S/ZS chips will work on a PCIE4.0 board? Or do I have to get a -04 chip?

Gotcha, thanks for the info!

2S/ZS are fairly reasonable to what retail cpu's go for, do you see any reason to try and go for OEM -04 cpu? the OEM -04 are also very expensive cause of the plandemic.

I was really hoping I can run an Asrock ROMED8-2T or a Gigabyte MZ71 with all of their PCIE4.0 16x goodness, but I'm affraid the 2S/ZS cpu's will not be able to boot because of incompatible BIOS.

I'm planning on this build to run Unraid (right now have it running on an i7-870 which is 11 years old, and it is chocking pretty hard), was hoping I can run zenstates upon Unraid startup to give it a little boost.

On your KRPA-U16, are you using the 24x slot? do you have a mezzanine card? I'd like to have 10G ethernet, 1-2 gpus, Asus 4x nvme riser card on a bifurcated slot, maybe usb/thunderbolt expansion in the future, not sure if the KRPA-U16 will provide my needs, donno why it has a mix of 4.0 and 3.0 slots.

Thanks!

Got it, I guess I'll have to wait for a decent deal, right now everything is over-priced.
Thanks!

Can someone point me to the best github repo for overclocking on Ubuntu 20 with an ASrock Rack board? Appreciate it.

Best Regards.

Not an es/qs so it's locked and no OC. but there's honestly not that much oc room from stock speeds on an already 280w cpu

Hi,
got a 7452QS with EPYCD8 and 6800xt, GPUZ shows that PCIE runs at Gen4,
but there comes a lot of PCIE error in windows event,
so question is if there is anyone use the 7452QS with PCIE Gen4 runs well without pcie error?

Thanks
