Cool! Thanks for all the info. I have a infiniband SAN running so I have some qfsp stuff (but of course not the relevant converters). Perha[s I'll skip the media convertor, though I'd to need to run a fiberoptic cable upstairs then though, which might not be worth it since the provider provides 8gbE max connectivity (which is more than I really need too).

I have connectx-3 cards in all the important rigs, so I was intending to use the 2nd port on those to connect to the arista, that should give me 40gbE to the PC's, which I don't really need at the moment (but is nice to have) since any big data is already being moved over the infiniband. I do want at least 10GbE since 1GbE is really getting annoyingly slow.

My issue is really that the isp router is 2.5GbE which all my old network gear doesn't support. It's all 10GbE, which is a bit of pain. But NAT seems like it's going to be an issue in that config.

Thanks for the expansive explanation, in any case.

Sorry for the resurrection, but this does appear to be the appropriate place for this.

I recently did acquire a 7050TX 48x10gbe 4x40gbe, and it works and its loud.

I update the firmware to 4.28 which is the most recent I've been able to find, and it doesn't appear to have a 'hardware fan-speed' command? I see people in the thread talking about using that, seemingly in connection to 7050TX's so I'm a little confused.

is anyone willing to shed some light on the subject?
