See this link. Understand How Virtual Machine Traffic Routes |VMware Communities

On the first scenario, "VM's connected with Same vSwitch, same port group and VLAN", if I create a Freenas that has 10GB NIC and I have another guest that has 10GB NIC, will I get 10GB of network transfer assuming my Freenas can do more than 1GB/s R/W?

BTW, the hardware NIC is only 1Gbps.

If it's inter-VM traffic that does not leave the ESXi host, the speed of the physical NIC does not come into play. You do need to have vmxnet3 virtual nics installed on all VMs to achieve 10Gbps between VMs

Thanks. I will try the VMXNET3 nics.
