I've been using nfs 4.1 with freenas and esxi for a little while now, it works just fine.

Perhaps when they finally either add iSER support or NFS 4.1 I might consider it, but for now I get nothing from upgrading except a shitty UI

You might end up with iSER working, but from the experience iSER on VMware is so badly implemented you'll hardly notice any CPU usage difference even on 10 GbE networking... TLR; Don't waste your time on it

Oh - and I still get errors in the vmkernel log.

I think what mellanox says is that rdma is not supported in VF, but supported in PF.
