So.. as we scramble to look for better solutions to home lab and experimentation post ESXI era...
What is the community thought of the next possible unholy alliance
I was thinking that if proxmox and truenas had a baby that would be pretty cool.. either proxmox bolted onto the NAS as base.. or vis versa..
Well.. that just happened - sort of - with truenas 25.04..
Truenas has jumped around A LOT with its virtualization and container back ends .. much to the dismay of many..
but their new move to incus a LXD fork is compelling ...
for a true home lab type setup.. might just be the next big thing...
I have run hyperconverged ESXI with a vm like nappit or truenas serving ZFS back to esxi and it works..
but the thought of having a proper NAS and its functionality on bare metal.. with a very converged and integrated container and VM solution bolted on ... sounds like a win... ?
