Yes I meant to say W-3175X ES. I saw the screenshots but it didn't look like overclock, it just looked like you were able to run all cores at max multiplier
max turbo all cores is not possible on locked processors.
Can we push this chip to 3.5 GHZ and above on all cores?
delidded (and liquid metal) water-cooled up to 4200Mhz all cores with good silicon.

I have 2 - SuperMicro X11DPL-i Motherboards.
I wasn't able to use my es or qs chips because of the microcode problem.
I tried to go back to something like bios 2.1 but that didn't work.
The motherboards have been collecting dust since then.

I have bios 3.2 on them now (2019)

But now I see they have new bios

Product Name X11DPL-i
Release Version 3.5
Release Date 5/24/2021

Has anyone gotten these MB's to run ES?
Also this is CPU TDP support up to 140W
That could be a problem too

Any help is appreciated.

Here is a CPUz I got running tonight with a
Release Intel Xeon Bronze 3104 CPU for testing.

X11DPL 2.1 should run B0 Skylake if I'm not mistaken nope I was mistaken, but you don't really want a B0 Skylake, not when QQxx (Cascade Lake A0) are so cheap. All boards (except Intel-branded ones) should boot QS parts. What exact part did you try? QJxx don't boot on anything.

indeed it looks the X11DPL BIOS 2.1 don't run skylake B0 ES, you need to try BIOS 1.0 which worked with a QLH1 i.e.
please tell us the Q??? (QDF) of your ES.

Hi, srry was away for the weekend.
The first chips I had were xeon platinum 8160 es ql1k.\
I realized they were over tdp and had microcode issues but tried anyway. no luck.

then i got another couple es's which i think they were within the tdp range but es's
I don't remember that chip info but I will try to dig it out.

But this weekend I was thinking, rather then trying to figure out the past.
what would be my best solution to use in that board, it will take 1st or 2nd gen chips
plus i don't really like the idea of going backwards with bios, i would rather find
a real world solution staying under the TDP of 140w plus the current bios and using 2gen if possible...
but price is a big factor, so first of 2nd gen and even QS or es.

Any help will be much appreciated, i am starting to look myself to see what the board
recommends and what is available at what cost.

Always appreciate your help and especially your POV!

Mucho thanks
Steve / SV

So from what i saw from the geo link this seems to be a nice match for the X11DPL-i
Intel xeon QQ8M CPU ES Gold 5218 Processor 16 Core 32 Thread 2.1G CPU

so your saying this will work with the latest 3.5 bios?
if so that's something to think about.
Gen2 and 64 threads for about 400, hmmmmm

thanks / steve

Ok, not really sure what I am looking at but I assume that is some kind of validation.
hmm MC Extractor must be microcode extractor, so my guess would be
that it's an extraction from the bios (from the blue bar) so you must have gotten the
QQ8M = 50655 A0 from some database or chip info?
I don't want to bug you but I always like to grow my knowledge base
I like the idea of the Intel xeon QQ8M CPU ES Gold 5218 Processor 16 Core 32 Thread 2.1G CPU
also is there any recommendations of who to buy from in china?

lots of questions but the QQ8M looks very tasty.

thanks again
Steve

UBU Tool calls MC Extractor. you can also use UEFITool.

I have a

SUPERMICRO 1028GR-TR Motherboard MBD-X10DRG-H

and

SUPERMICRO 2028GR-TRT Motherboard MBD-X10DRG-HT

how can I know if an ES CPU will work on them?

Thanks

some work, some not. depends on the ES type:
QS will work. what do you have or want to buy ? V3 V4 ? early ES, good ES or QS ?

I am looking for a 20 core V4

I don't see QS ones in North America on China.

I never bought from China before not sure if anyone tried them?

Thanks

the QHUZ is a 20 Core ES2, but low frequencies as almost all ES2.
you should look out for a 18 core E5-2695 v4, with same or more performance as a 20 core ES2.
they go from $200 - $250 at ebay, sellers form north america too.
the QS is not much cheaper, goes from $180 plus ship&fees.
