Hi, could you please give example codes for 16/18 core QS Cascade Lake. What I can find in ebay is only QQ8Q and QQ8M.
its easy. look at the CPU-Z screenshots. there must be a full brand string and the (ES) then its a QS.
if the Brand string is just "Genuine Intel(R) CPU 0000%@" it is NOT a QS.
the best source for those is taobao(some ebay sellers buy there too) use a agent(i.e. superbuy) to buy there.

Thanks everyone, this has been really informative. I'm going to try a QS rather than ES and look for detailed listings.

the QQ8Q is a Xeon Gold 6240 ES2 cpuid 50655 stepping A0 (there are production unit cpu with this stepping)
if you want to run trouble-free virtual machines you better choose a QS processor. that does not mean it will not work.
Beware the seller serverpartsrus who is selling these. I bought one of two of those QQ8Q chips from them and just returned them because the bottom contacts were all scratched up. One was almost entirely missing. It seems he relisted my return along with the other one he sold, so I'm guessing the other buyer also had the same issue. He's now listed them as "cosmetic blemishes" which wasn't even in the original listing and I still think is not truthful. That said, if u don't care about the contacts, he accepted $325 when I bought them last week. I'd personally wait for the China sellers to drop to ~$300.

Hi, sorry to drop back a generation but i never knew that E5 4000 V3 chips work in X99 boards.
I received a new batch of chips from HK and I took some E5 4000 V3 Series chips and I put one in my Asus Rampage X99 and it worked.
After I read more I saw that it pretty known but not to me... lol

Check it out...

Hi, soon I will get Supermicro X11DPI-NT LAN 10Gb rev.2.01A with bios
3.3a or 3.4
.
I plan to put 2 CPU Processor LGA3647 1.8GHz 20Cores Reference Gold 6130/6138.

As I read here there must be bios v.2.0 or modified new one for this to work ?
Is that true ? Need some information so I can start prepare flashing procedure or worst- modding.

Thanks.

the x11dpi is one of the boards which requires a modified bios, no matter which version.
great, lucky me... is it in this tread any manual to do it ? or can I ask you to help me doing it ?
I edited bios long time ago in a time of pIV. Nothing has changed much I guess ? :)
I would not want to brick this board. (if that is possible)

as soon as you have received your board, see if you can do the bios update via IPMI. you may have to buy an OOB license key from supermicro or make one yourself. the seller of the SKL B0 cpu should provide you a working BIOS(i.e. 3.0a) ask for it.

Hi,
are there benchmark or reviews of xeon 8124M and 8222L?
Also, would open loop liquid cooling be suitable for them?
Thank you in advance.

Hi, I have the E5 4669 v3 es chips posted here , someone asked me if it will work in a Dell "m630 blade".
I'm familiar with X99 boards and Supermicro Dualies but not a Dell m630 blade .

If anyone has run a E5 4000 series V3 in a Dell m630 blade or similar dell chipset board, that would be helpful, but I will probably just give the guy a refund if it doesn't work.
They seem to run fine in every board I have put them in so far. I have even decided to keep 2 for a new server i am building with a SM x10 dual board.

Just wondering.

Thanks in advance
Steve

from DELL POWEREDGE M630 spec sheet - Intel C610 series chipset
Intel C610 series chipset is the same as x99 chipset but C610 is used for servers, and x99 is used for home users.
reading on characteristics there are no difference between both. all drivers used for c610 are used for x99 (intel c610 series/x99 chipset driver server 2016)
so, it will work fine.

I've bought a Gigabyte MD71-HB0 and I'm now looking for matching CPUs...

Are QPKD a good choice? Will they work on the Gigabyte board?

I'm going to build a cascade lake based WS and high-frequency processors such as 8222L or 8259CL seem to be a nice choice.
However, they are mentioned to work on Asrock motherboards only and, unfortunately, these boards are extremely rare in my country.
Does someone have any experience with these CPUs (8222L/8259CL, maybe 8275 or 8272) on other mobos?
