It seems to be the QHVD variant.
I have an ASUS X99 Deluxe II. What chances do I have that this chip will work?
no chance. you will get Q-Code 19.
ASUS X99 boards only supports prod.unit or QS processors (there are exceptions)
you should try to get a used 6850k at ebay.

Thanks for the reply, so non-ES variants of xeons should still work then? I'm just trying to find a cheap alternative with similar specs

right. the QS editions are mostly cheaper, if CPU-Z reports the correct name it's a QS.
non-QS ES have this name "Genuine Intel(R) CPU 0000 @..."

Learned a bunch today! Looking at it an E5-1650V4 should be same as my 6850k, just with ECC support.
Will ECC memory work in my Asus X99?

Looking at this source it seems likely:

there are ASUS X99 WS boards with ECC and registered support.
note there are UDIMM ECC and RDIMM ECC modules.
ASRock X99 boards support both(Xeon required)
with luck your ASUS X99 supports UDIMM ECC modules.

i have to say the 6850k is a much stronger chip then the E5-1650V4 , they say the same, but
you can overclock the crap out of the 6850k, the E5-1650V4 doesn't overclock at all unless you wanna play with microcode

the ES QK3M/QK3S (E5-1650v4 ES/E5-1660v4 ES) are unlocked.
I have still a E5-1650v3(prod.unit unlocked) running on a Huananzhi X99 board at 4 Ghz allcore, not a Broadwell-EP but nowadays cheap.

I have a E5-1650v4 that I was putting into my R5E-10 but put a E5-1630V4 in it by accident, 4/8, so i'm going to put the E5-1650V4 into it over the weekend, so i'll get 6/12 and also it will be cool if it's unlocked, the R5E-10 is also a good overclocker.
I've been trying to get this rig up and running as a gaming rig then i noticed the E5-1630 was it it. I was lucky enough to get a Nvidia 3060ti FE when they first came out, I think it will make a great gaming rig for me...

I'll post back some photos and other info as it gets up and running this weekend.

I am looking for a few LGA3647 coolers that are non screamers, i see that the only good ones are very expensive from and i like the NH-U14S DX-3647 , does anyone know if there are any good ones around that are more cost effective.
The LGA3647 is a big chip, what is the average temp for running 100%

I am impressed by the quality of the info and idea's that float around this forum, i look forward to growing my server knowledge here.
Thanks
SV

Hi everyone. Can anyone shed some light on the value of the QQ8Q Gold 6240's on eBay right now? They look too good to be true from my perspective which makes me hesitant to buy one. I was planning buying a low tier EPYC 7002 but the price of this Xeon makes is a better contender for a new toy server. All I see is a slightly lower base and turbo frequency from retail chips.

the QQ8Q is a Xeon Gold 6240 ES2 cpuid 50655 stepping A0 (there are production unit cpu with this stepping)
if you want to run trouble-free virtual machines you better choose a QS processor. that does not mean it will not work.

Beware the seller serverpartsrus who is selling these. I bought one of two of those QQ8Q chips from them and just returned them because the bottom contacts were all scratched up. One was almost entirely missing. It seems he relisted my return along with the other one he sold, so I'm guessing the other buyer also had the same issue. He's now listed them as "cosmetic blemishes" which wasn't even in the original listing and I still think is not truthful. That said, if u don't care about the contacts, he accepted $325 when I bought them last week. I'd personally wait for the China sellers to drop to ~$300.

Hi, could you please give example codes for 16/18 core QS Cascade Lake. What I can find in ebay is only QQ8Q and QQ8M.
