So, at the end, I've ordered the following components
  • 2x E5-2630 V4 ES QK3G
  • 16x Crucial DDR4 8GB 2133 RDIMM CT8G4RFD8213
  • SuperMicro MBD-X10DRI-O
  • Corsair RMX850
  • Corsair 600Q
  • SanDisk 128GB X400
  • 4x SanDisk 512GB X400
  • 2x Noctua NH-U12DX I4
The current total (shipping + insurance) is about 1,810 euro if I will get a better mobo price (I'm still trying), the final amount will be 1615 euro.
Any thoughts?

Looks good. CPU coolers can be cheaper, HYPER 212's or some other 120mm fan cooler with like 4 copper heatpipes are ok. Where are you from? Are you ordering from Mindfactory.de? LC-Power Cosmo Cool LC-CC-120 Tower Kühler stuff are quite cheap in Mindfactory. Check out the 2011-3 server motherboards. The LC CC 120 keeps my 2630 below 60C during a Prime95 2h torture run.. No need to waste money on Noctuas, use the extra cash on something else :) Just my opinion.

Hey, thanks for the advice!
I've changed a bit the final order.
  • 2x E5-2630 V4 ES QK3G
  • 16x Crucial DDR4 8GB 2133 RDIMM CT8G4RFD8213
  • SuperMicro MBD-X10DRI-O
  • Corsair RMX850
  • Nanoxia Deep Silence 5 Rev.B
  • 4x Samsung 850 EVO
  • 2x SuperMicro SNK-P0050AP4
I've saved about 80 euros on the Noctuas but then I've discovered that the previous Corsair 600Q case does not support any full E-ATX motherboard (12 x 13 inch), so I've picked up another silent case but more expensive. I've also replaced the Sandisk, TLC nand for TLC I've chosen the Samsung Evo, more expensive but at least better performance.

So the final price has been of 2,682.79€ SS + insurance included (I've messed up the previous price, it had just 64GB Ram and one SanDisk at 512GB).
If I could have ordered the mobo from the USA I could have saved other about 140 euros :-(

Anyway, currently I live in Italy :)

I go with the opposite advice. Noctua fans and heats sinks are expensive but the are quiet and effective.
They are overhyped. Any heatsink with a decent 4-pin PWM fan can be tuned quiet. My 19€ LC-CC-120's work flawlessly with my 2630 V4 and 2690 V4. While being silent, temps never exceed 60C during a Prime95 torture test.

Hi,

Just wondering, does turbo boost work on ES chips?

I have 2, and they are working perfectly but I cant seem to get them to turbo boost, even in prime 95

Thanks!

What chip do you have? The newer version of Prime95 limits the turbo, seems that AVX loads limit turbo boost. Try older versions of prime, like 26.6. My 2690 V4 boosted only to 2,6ghz (all cores) on newer Prime versions, but <- 27 versions it allowed the all core boost go to 3,0ghz.

Hello!

So i finally completed this build :)
Now i would like to overclock it just a bit (basically i would like to get a maximum frequency with stock voltages). I have already tried to increase a BLCK frequenct to 105 and 104, but it just does not start with these settings and i had to clear cmos to be able to boot. I am sure that i am doing something wrong because i do not have any experience overclocking xeons. Could you help me out here?

BTW, regarding my CPU, i would like to know what ES i have (early sample or not, etc.).

Appreciate your assistance!

Here is the screenshot: Screenshot

Thx for the reply!

Basically i shouldn't even bother trying to overclock it? Is it bad that this is an early ES?

You have a 2683 V4 ES right? If I remember correctly, it already boosts to 2,5ghz with all cores, which is nice. Even a +5% BCLK OC wouldn't be worth it, because of the stability issues you could face.

Yes, correct. The base clock of my es is 2ghz and it boosts all cores to 2.3ghz.

I have 2 of e5-2630 v4 2.2 es - I was not aware of prime though I will try the earlier version, I am also google-ing around it seems others have had this issue in Win 10 X64, so it may be another issue not ES related..
I already fixed my power profile and all that. Se attached to see CPUZ of my CPU

An interesting note though, I looked at HWinfo64, and 2 features are in red, while on the screenshots from the vendor that are supposedly my actual chips, they are green...

Not sure what that means -

Seems that you have turbo disabled, enable it via BIOS CPU settings. No wonder it doesn't boost.

You need DDR4 not DDR3. Coolers you have plenty to choose from. Fan, you will want a PWM (4 wire) 120/140 mm.
I run watercooling on my E5 V4, works aswell.
