The 100cb higher score than the listing seems to be because you have set the BCLK to ~104MHz and maybe your system is more optimised :)

Right now the choice seems to be between the V4 chips so I can use the faster RAM:
Intel Xeon E5 2683 V4 ES QHZE Remarked as SR2JT Equivalent to QHUY 2.0GHz CPU (16C, 2.0GHz all cores, 3.0GHz single core, 2.5GHz uncore, ~1800cb score, $360 shipped)

I get a cinebench 1700-1715 at stock, and 1785-1805 at 104. At 1700 my system still scores 100 over the 2690V4 you posted and overclock to 104 BCLK I get 200 more. But like an other poster suggested that listing is very misleading.

Good luck on your find, I personally would not get early stepping V4 chips that is why I went with a QS V3 instead.

For most high turbo is preferred, good on singe thread applications. That why I ent for a E5 2630 V4, 3,1GHz and 2,4 all core frequenzy. Mulit thread performace is good enough anyway. Bought mine at Xtrememicro (ebay), but that shop seems out of them right now.

Of these two I would choose the V3.

That QHZE does 2.3 all cores.

New to the forum and this was a good read.

I have a GA-X99M-GAMING 5 and some 2400 ram but need to get a cpu. I'd like at least 8 cores (more the better) but I want/need a boost at least 3.3GHz for light gaming. I also need the price less than $300, any higher than $300 it would make more sense to just go ahead and pick up a 6800k. Its looking like the 2686v3 and v4 might be one of the better options... does anyone have any recommendations or links to some good auctions currently up? The only thing that has me wondering are the production codes... "Qh2m bad Qhv5 good" etc.
If anyone could toss up some good links for good bang for the buck less than $300 with a clock speed over 3GHz then it would be appreciated.
V4 if possible would be cool since I could run my ram at 2400.

Just look for it on ebay, sometimes good deals pop up. As far as finding a 2686 V3 at or below 300 will be hard. They use to be around 400 a few months ago and are currently pricey.

there are alot confusion like cpu A being sold as cpu B, cpu D sold as cpu C and etc. so I create simple table finder for E5 v3 and v4 on http://goo.gl/Xwe9Tm to identify you cpu find level 3 cache and TDP , hope it useful.

I have 2 QHUY 2.00 ES Xeons, I've read a lot about how the v4 don't play well with certain motherboards. I have a pending trade for a Gigabyte G1 Gaming Ultra Rev.1 x99, I've read deeply about the cpuid's for haswell/broadwell and also backtracked to both of their official release dates and also took into consideration the creation dates of the processors. I've noticed the complaints about the Asus boards not accepting v4 however accepting the v3 and dug into the bios's to find out the obvious that a great majority of them where manufactured before the v4 where even developed. Some newer bios's however have them. Specifically the Rampage V Extreme early bios versions only have the haswell cpuid its not until recently that the newer cpuid where added, back to the pending motherboard well I dug into the very first bios it has bios version f2 date 05/23/2016 and this is what I found (insert pic here). I found not only the Haswell ES and retail but also the broadwell ES and retail cpuids. According to sources on this forum 406F0 is ES dated 01-05-2015 according to wikipedia broadwell wasn't officially released till Q1 2016 for dual socket Xeons and Q2 2016 (April 2016) for single socket again the cpuid is time stamped 05-05-2016 (May 2016).

cpuid 406F0 (stepping id 0 in cpu-z) do not run on gigabyte x99(only POST loop)
You need ES with cpuid 406F1 on gigabyte x99 motherboards(stepping id 1 in cpu-z)
those ES processors will have same stepping as prod.unit(R0/M0/B0)

I recall seeing that same seller a week ago, well I got the board for $100 bucks the msi x99 and 8 xeons ES for free while working a contract job building google modular cooling and power skids for a data base being built in Georgia.

Have read all 30 pages twice :)

I see two E5-2650 V3 2.1GHz Stepping 2 processors on ebay, from hwtrade and from extremicro:
CPU-Z shows 12-23 multipliers for first of them (extremicro) and 12-25 for second (hwtrade)

Will I benefit from buying with 12-25 multiplier?

both are the same cpu.
cpu-z shows sum of actual multipliers, i.e. if all at x23 there is ( 12 - 23 )
on the hwtrade-e cpu-z screenshot u see the same ( 12 - 23 )

Just let me clarify what looks strange for me... :)

At Hwtrade's lot we can see:
CPU-Z at picture 2 shows 12-25 multiplier,
CPU-Z at picture 3 shows 12-23 multiplier.

@TheJackal83 - i ordered same two Xeons like you and Z10PE-D8 WS - i don't need so many memory slots, prefer one extra PCIe.


- Can you make use of fast non-buffered memory like: G.Skill Trident Z silver/red 128GB, DDR4-3200, CL16 (F4-3200C16Q2-128GTZ) ??
- Let us know how it overclock, does ASUS give any advanced things in BIOS ... after all it's ASUS not Intel ... they could help us a bit...

The memory controllers of Xeon are optimized for ECC, they can NOT be overclocked.
Some new broadwell-ep support up to 2400mhz(native not XMP), that's all.
But at QUAD-CHANNEL mode u don't need any memory overclocking.
