Thanks. I just wanted to make sure that the turbo steppings for v3/v4 ES weren't "shut off completely" such that you pretty much only run at the base clock and that's it. Last thing I want is to be stuck at 2.0Ghz for all cores. Is there any way to see this via their CPUz capture? Sometimes I see pics where it shows the frequency of all cores running simultaneously and they are at ~1.1Ghz (like half the base clock) where the multiplier has paranthesis that shows 11-23. What is that about? Also does this mean max turbo for all cores is 2.3Ghz? Why would they run at 1.1 if base clock is 2.0?

That being said, is there any way to "force" all cores to run at the minimum stepping and never step down?
if EIST is ON with no load the core runs at 1200mhz(x12 multi, can be adjusted in bios ;) )
If EIST is off the cores stay at base clock, with Turbo Boost OFF they stay there on load.
i.e. icomputer_parts.....writes "The CPU-Z screenshots shows.......and the Core speed (the maximum frequency) which is the maximum ALL cores frequency at which the processor is capable of operating using Intel® Turbo Boost Technology (Turbo Boost all of the cores simultaneously)."
So look at the screenshot, if it shows i.e. x 23 (12 - 23) means that core#0 is at 2300mhz(bclk=100mhz)
and the highest of all other cores is 2300mhz !!

Many sellers have a HWinfo screenshot where u can see the clocks of the cores in full load.
Start cpu-z go to bench and start "stress cpu" then look into HWinfo(summary view) like this
E5-2650v4_HWinfo64_stress.gif E5-2630LV3_HWinfo_stress.gif E5-2630Lv4_HWinfo_allturbo.gif
the HWinfo screenshot at bloommax shows the turbo clock all cores at full load.

Rollo! Here is my CPU, what can you tell about it ?
All i found about it is bad news.
It seems that this cpu only works in pairs(custom one for OEM server manufacturer)
needs a second cpu present.
what will run is:
E5-2695v3 2.3ghz QFQG(pre-QS),QG7R/QGN4(QS)
E5-2695v3 2.2ghz QEY6(ES2)

this qdcs is cpuid 306f0. most motherboard-bios have not the required microcode to support it.
it is not a good idea to flash the latest bios, some bios misses MC 306f0 to get space for broadwell MC.
it was newer confirmed that this ES runs as single cpu on any motherboard, if you buy one
pls ask for HWinfo screenshot before !

".......These are engineering samples and work in pairs. Item was tested on my Asus Z10PE-D8 WS mobo. "

QD is Waaaay early... I only touch LCC QF and QG for everything else...
QD and QE are paperweights.

Can I jump ahead to the answer...

What's the best value spicy v3 with vt-d that will turbo over 3ghz and has 8 or greater cores?

:)
will be the E5-2666v3 ES
10 cores(no HT) @3.1Ghz
the best ES have still its owner found.
the best price/perf. value has IMHO the E5-2658v3 QEYP ES, 12*2300mhz(all core turbo) for $156 dollar.

Wow @RolloZ170 thank you for that reply! It reminded me I had a 'missing' E5 v3 high frequency chip floating around!!
Luckily it was in one of my CPU trays, ironically right on top!

E5-2687 V3 (NOT "W" version) this is an OEM chip I believe. No HT.
10 Cores @ 3Ghz turbo to 3.1Ghz

I see some on ebay... now to decide if I want to replace the v4 lower frequency, lower power with this one :) or just sell it. I don't have anymore v3 1P boards so can't run 3 systems LOL!!

This thread is very informative. I was about to pull the trigger on two of these when I noticed the ES and the lower Ghz.
It's listed as a E5-2690 v3 ES QEYJ. What do you guys think? Any good?

Here's another that is listed as a E5-2690 v3 ES M0# (QGDR)

And another from the same seller that doesn't appear to list what kind of ES it is
-edit - after scrolling down further I found the steppings for this one
Core steppings M0 (QFRX)
M1 (QGNY, SR1XN)

Are any of these worth it?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

i ordered one of that xeon from the japan seller because he is more reliable.
That one should be the replacement for a E5-2658v3 ES which has also 12C but only 2300mhz
all core turbo(this cpu is allready a monster with 64GB RAM and GTX970,play a game with 60 fps and seti@home running)
The E5-2690v3 ES QEYJ can 2700mhz all cores turbo.
E5-2690 v3 QEYJ turbo3000 all2700.jpg
there is a different 2690v3 ES at the japan seller eBay store
Intel Xeon E5-2690 v3 ES M0# LGA2011-3 12C Compatible with X99 i7-6900K 6950X
"stepping M0 has identical compatibility and functions as OEM or retail version CPU"
but has only 2700mhz all core turbo like the other one.

Well, the cheapest one is likely the one I got, I think it's a E5-2628 or something along those lines :) I have it in my backup server, so far so good.

Hey Everyone,

Don't mean to hijack anyone's thread but this looked like a good thread to jump into. I recently bought two E5 2643v3 ES processors from "icomputer_parts_international" as well. I put them into my Asus Z10PE-WS8 board and it booted up just fine but if I increase the BCLK at all (only increased to 105), the USB 3.0 ports do not work correctly. If I plug in a USB 3.0 device, Windows states that the device could perform faster and negotiates at USB 2.0. If I go back to the stock BCLK (100), the USB 3.0 devices negotiate correctly. I thought this was a board issue so I purchased another Z10PE-WS8 board (which I later returned), and it has the same issues. Do you think that the ES CPU's are causing this? I checked everywhere and it doesn't appear that anyone else is having this problem. My RAM is also showing up with incorrect timings in CPUz as well but that is probably because they are ES.

All other clocks, USB SATA PCIexpress-slots etc are based on the BLCK, this will happen on ALL other Motherboards.
This "connection" of BCLK to other clock's are not anymore present at Intel Skylake.
So thats not an issue, many motherboards have extra chips for usb/sata, they will be not affected.
The memory clock is also based on this BCLK.
Note that Xeon E5 are NOT toys, they are build to perform stable anvironments.
And you can not compare haswell-ep with haswell-e processors which can maybe overclocked.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, the non-native USB 3.0 ports (ASMEDIA) are not affected, just the Intel ones. So, based on your reply, are you saying that the ES CPU's are not the culprit and the issue is probably related to the board itself?

Thanks,

Thats NOT a issue. don't touch the BCLK.
You have C612 chipset not X99.

Thanks for the Reply RolloZ170!

So Which of these e5-2690 v3 would you recommend? I will be buying two of them to run in a Asus Z10PE-D16. I'm really a n00b when it comes to ES and stepping so any insight you guys have would be much appreciated :)

1. QEYJ
2. M0 (QGDR)
3. M0 (QFRX)
4. QEYJ
5. M0 (QGDR)

I figure worst case scenario if these don't work out I can always buy a retail ci7 and throw it in there.

Thanks again =)

Look for comments made by Patriot in this thread.
I am sure you will find the QE.... not to be so recommend.
The ones that start with QF or QG are a much better bet. I have 2 2660 M0 and they have been great.
Keep us posted.

1. and 4. are same.
only the 2. is a M0, which you should prefer for dual-socket, all others are the same stepping L0, but should be ok too.
In the cpu-z screenshot shows it as stepping "1" thats L0
I don't have any experience with xtrememicro and hwtrade-e, one ES of 3. (icomputer_parts....)arrives soon here. It can happen that some has scratches and dents on the contact side, you can use the return service or just put it in the socket(they are tested).
i will buy some from hwtrade-e soon, but not from xtrememicro because he is not shipping to my country.

Hello people,

This tread is very VERY usefull!!

I read all the 6 pages of it, and I was wondering to buy this CPU that you posted before. My question is if it is compatible with my actuall board. Or if not, what board should I buy? A 601/602 chip set, supermicro, or stuck with Asus x99 and find a suitable CPU?

My daily job is working with cinema 4d after effect and premiere pro, also photoshop.

This is my actual computer:
