yes, X12DPi-(T)N6 i is a big exception...
i don't know any other, but we can not test all.
i have had X12SPL, works only with unofficial Test/Debug BIOS 1.0 (not 1.0a)
i have X12SPM-LN4F, works only with unofficial Test/Debug BIOS 1.0 (not 1.0a)
but stepping D0 (step 6) ES2 like QWAT/QWAS/QWAP/QWAQ are working like a prod.unit on all boards with latest BIOS.
Hi. I have a Supermicro X12DPL-NT6 with BIOS version 1.0b and I bought a Xeon Gold 5315Y ES QU9B thinking that it would work but it doesn´t. I read in your posts that QUxx works only on version 1.0 so I tried to reflash the BIOS by desoldering it an reprogramming with a CH341 programmer (the Macronix MX25L25673G, right?) with BIOS 1.0 but after resoldering it to the motherboard it still apperars as 1.0b on the IPMI. Is any way to sucessfully downgrade it?

correct chip.

this is updated by successfull POST by CPU/BIOS. as long you have no POST over you see old working BIOS version.
check the BMC/IPMI log for any issue with the BIOS, it may be not accepted and replaced, you see blue LED flashing while programming.

pls buy the cheapest QWxx. QU9B is B0 and you will not have long fun because it will loose mem channels one by one over time, they don't come back.

QS is same than prod.unit but ES bit set.
good price for official QS is 30%..50% of retail price if the seller provdes one year warranty.
what is this cpu good for? i saw that it may be used for running llms locally taking advantage of intel amx, it can process prompts much faster than a normal cpu

It's a normal CPU with a reduced cost. There is nothing about a QS that makes it better than a production unit, although some do have better or worse turbo speeds.

no.
official QS of 8592+ A1 has same clocks or is not QS.
QS of 8592+ A1 shows 8592+ (ES) in CPU-Z (ES is added from CPU-Z not in brand-string)
I was speaking in generalities. Some QS cpus have different clock speeds than their production counterparts.
